Places to see in ( Torpoint - UK )
Torpoint is a civil parish and town on the Rame Peninsula in southeast Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is situated opposite the city of Plymouth across the Hamoaze which is the tidal estuary of the River Tamar.
Torpoint is linked to Plymouth (and Devonport) by the Torpoint Ferry. The three vessels that operate the service are chain ferries – that is, they are propelled across the river by pulling themselves on fixed chains which lie across the bed of the river. The journey takes about seven minutes.
It is said that Torpoint's name is derived from Tar Point, a name given because of the initial industry on the west bank of the Hamoaze. However this is actually a nickname given by workers, Torpoint meaning rocky headland. Torpoint is an eighteenth-century planned town. The grid-based design for the town was commissioned by Reginald Pole Carew in the Parish of Antony in 1774. His family continue to have a strong influence in the area, having become the Carew Poles in the twentieth century, and still reside at their family seat, Antony House.
In 1796 Torpoint was the setting for a shooting battle between the crew of a government vessel, the Viper, and a large party of armed liquor smugglers, in which one person was killed and five people seriously wounded. Torpoint has a Non-League football club Torpoint Athletic F.C. who play at The Mill.

Castle Stalker Loch Laich Argyll Scotland
Tour Scotland travel video of Castle Stalker on a tidal islet on Loch Laich on ancestry visit to Argyll. The original castle was a small fort, built around 1320 by Clan MacDougall who were then Lords of Lorn. Around 1388 the Stewarts took over the Lordship of Lorn, and it is believed that they built the castle in its present form around the 1440s. The Stewart's relative King James IV of Scotland visited the castle, and a drunken bet around 1620 resulted in the castle passing to Clan Campbell. After changing hands between these clans a couple of times, the Campbells finally abandoned the castle in about 1840, when it lost its roof. In 1908 the castle was bought by Charles Stewart of Achara, who carried out basic conservation work. While most castle scenes in the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail were filmed in and around Doune Castle, Castle Stalker appears in the final scene as The Castle of Aaaaarrrrrrggghhh . First the castle is seen from a distance; next, a French castle guard, John Cleese, taunts King Arthur, Graham Chapman, in a French accent from its battlements; finally, a massive attack is launched against the castle, after which police officers who were investigating the death of a historian earlier in the film arrive and are in the process of arresting Arthur and the other knights for killing him when one officer places his hand over the camera's lens cap and ends the film's visuals. The castle also makes a brief appearance in the film Highlander: Endgame. Castle Stalker is the inspiration for Castle Keep in the children's book, The Boggart.

Castle Stalker & Loch Laich (Scotland 2006)
Scotland
Oban August 2013
I'm on my day out to Oban in the west coast of Scotland. Oban is known as Gateway to the Hebrides and every tourist and holiday makers come to Oban to visit by ferry to Mull, Tiree, Coll and the Outer Hebrides, and visit attraction is the distillery, McCaig's Tower, seafood, cafes and restaurant events like the highland games and shops.
At the seafood shop to get a taste I meet the Scottish actress Elaine c Smith from Rab C Nesbitt she came to Oban to film her show all around Oban. I went to Oban Distillery to taste the 14 year old malt and up on McCaigs Tower to get a good view around Oban and the Hebrides, you could see Lismore Lighthouse Eilean Musdile approach Mull and looking at Hutcheson Monument in the distant, seeing Caledonian MacBrayne Ferry arrive and leave for the Isles and Scotrail train get to Oban and back from Glasgow and Crianlarich. Last of the film is Connel Bridge and Loch Etive on the coach back home
