Welcome to the magical Porte-Puymorens! The land of the colourful forests and magnificent lakes. In today's video we are going to share with you our 2 day hike to the lake Lanoux and back. We discovered 2 different ways to get there, spend the night in the woods and explored the beautiful lake Font Viva. Let's hit the trail!

We did this hike in the middle of October and thoroughly enjoyed the feel and smell of the autumn forest around. The trail itself is medium hard especially if you go in the middle of a hot day and carrying some heavy load. The trekking poles would be a good help if you choose the upper route that we did on a first day. We personally enjoyed more our second day route, because it's much more peaceful going through the forest, two shelter houses and getting down to the lake Font Viva. And it's not very different distance-wise. If you do it in one day the whole circuit will take you around 8 hours to make. One way to the lake Lanoux will take 4-5 hours approximately. The way back is easier and takes less time due to the fact that you're coming down.

The second part of this small roadtrip in the Pyrenees with the caravan. We stayed a few nights off camping because either it was late or not in our itinerary. Everything is going well but the caravan is put to the test on the small roads, it is necessary to go around the screws to be tightened at the risk of seeing doors to fall at the next trip. Definitely Hymer is not what it was, and if the ERIBA of yesteryear were indestructible force is to note that it is not necessary to make an intensive use of this material and the legendary made in Deutschland in this case is a joke.
I am more and more tempted to make my caravan from a flatbed trailer like a tiny house.
Little anecdote, on a small parking lot where we spent the night in a village an old lady passed and looked at the caravan insistently. I thought she was going to tell us something like you can not stay and no, she just said it's a pretty little caravan you have then good night.

First time in snowshoes | Bad experience
Have you ever wondered what it's like to walk in snowshoes and whether it is worth a try? Well, in this video we show you our own experience of walking in the snowshoes, share the first impressions and difficulties that we faced along the way, talking about the pros and cons of wearing them and under what conditions in our opinion you can make the best use out of them. Hope that you'll learn something new and enjoy the scenery of the beautiful Porte Puymorens!

Here are our final notes and tips that we learned from our own experience that we believe will help you to walk in showshoes:
- it will take some time to get used to, it is not as easy as walking or even hiking, you will feel working some different muscle groups
- we recommend trying to relax your ankle and let the snowshoe go like you would do in flip-flops, and that way to prevent the unnecessary tension in the muscle
- when you try to go downhill sidewalks are incredibly hard, mainly because your leg is glued to the shoe and you can't move it in your ankle like you would normally do
- you can't really walk backwards, so every time you need to turn you have to walk around
- you still will come down into the snow, how deep it will depend on the type of your snowshoe and hardness of the snow
- when you come down into the snow, sometimes it's quite hard to get the leg back out
- watch out for the trees, branches, or any other obstacles that can be hiding under the layer of snow, use the trekking poles for checking the trail in front
- trekking poles do help while walking in the deep snow, checking obstacles or walking on a slope
- the snowshoes don't prevent your legs from wetness, so make sure you're wearing the good pair of the waterproof boots
- we do not recommend walking heavy loaded with the big backpacks, the walk would be twice as hard and you would come down twice as deep into the snow
- it is a great physical activity by itself, our body muscles were very sore the next day
- the snow condition plays its role as well, walking on the ice crust can be more difficult and walking on the ice is very dangerous
- in our opinion, walking on a relatively flat surface with fluffy fresh
snow in a frosty weather will give you the best experience, especially if you're just starting out
- there are lots of different types of snowshoes nowadays, so we higly recommend to do your research and try them out if you can to find your perfect pair
All of the information in the video and in the description above is based exclusively on our own experience of wearing snowshoes for the first time, we are not experienced walkers, so by all means, when in doubt, hire a professional snowshoe guide that will help you to get the best experience.
Give this video a thumbs up if you enjoyed it and don't forget to subscribe to our channel for more hiking and travel adventures. Leave us a comment below sharing your own experience, we would love to hear from you. Hope you're having a great day and until next time!
