Places to see in ( Gallarate - Italy )
Gallarate is a city and comune of Alto Milanese of Lombardy and of Milan metropolitan area, northern Italy, in the Province of Varese. It has a population of some 54 thousand people. Its name comes from Latin, in fact a lot of cities around it have the same root rate, such as Casorate Sempione, Samarate, etc.
It is the junction of railways to Varese, Laveno and Arona (for the Simplon). Some 10 kilometres (6 miles) to the west are the electric works of Vizzola, where 23,000 hp are derived from the river Ticino. Its territory is crossed by the river Arnetta, and belongs to the Ticino River Natural Park. The city in the first part of the 19th century had a strong textile industry.
Founded by the Gauls and later conquered by the Romans, Gallarate was mentioned as an important vicus or village in documents dating back to the Roman conquest of what was then called Gallia Cisalpina. After the Carolingian conquet of northern-central Italy, a castle was erected upon the remains of the original Roman fortifications located beside the still existing Basilica of Santa Maria. The castle has disappeared, but its ancient location is identified through the city’s topography and by the street name Via Postcastello.
By the latter half of the 19th century modern industry had begun to take over many areas of Italy. In a few decades, Gallarate became an important industrial city. This period was also marked by heavy social tensions brought about by the rapid political and economic changes wrought by Gallarate’s own industrial revolution. Nowadays, Gallarate’s industrial structure no longer includes these giant industrial powerhouses of the past. Their existence, however, is still marked out by the presence of the high chimneys, which are still visible along Gallarate’s skyline. Many of the old Liberty-style buildings, where thousands of Gallaratesi worked during the past century-and-a-half, have been turned into new modern multi-level shopping centres and plazas.
Alot to see in Gallarate such as :
Romanesque church of St. Peter. It was built in the 11th to 13th centuries, including some Gothic elements. The interior has a nave without aisles. The façade, the apse and the sides are characterised by arcades supported by small columns forming a fake loggia. It was declared national monument in 1844.
Church of Santa Maria Assunta is located in the city centre and in autumn 2016 the local government started works of restoration
Baroque church of Sant'Antonio Abate
Sanctuary of Madonna di Campagna, dating to the early 17th century.
Church of San Zenone (18th century)
Church of San Rocco (16th century)
Historical pharmacy Dahò, where the carbonari used to hide in the 19th century, owned by Dott. Renata Minoli. The pharmacy is located in piazza Garibaldi, in which there a statue of Giuseppe Garibaldi.
MAGA (Museo d’Arte Gallarate-Art Museum of Gallarate) museum which holds over 5,000 pieces of modern and contemporary art.
Gallarate railway station, opened in 1860, is the junction of the railway lines Domodossola–Milan, Luino–Milan and Porto Ceresio–Milan. The station is a stop for several long-running trains (EuroCity from Milan to Geneva and Basle), of regional trains from Milan to Domodossola, and of line S5 of Milan suburban railway service, and line S30 of Ticino railway network. Gallarate is close to the Milan–Malpensa international airport.

[4K] - Another day out - YI M1 - Porto Ceresio (VA, IT) - MAGIX PRO X - 149 Mb/s
A new, not too short this time (the video is rather long, nearly 10 minutes), second, mid-day, visit to “Porto Ceresio”, on Lake Lugano (CH), AKA Lake Ceresio, on April 27th, 2019. Clips shot with the YI M1 mirror-less, micro four-thirds, camera, entirely hand-held (no tripod used), with the Vivitar wide angle 24mm f2.8, the 28mm and the vintage Nikon E-series 50mm f1.8 (in manual mode, manual focus) therefore, whenever possible, I leaned myself against a wall or a pylon or something for more stable shots. Both lenses are, obviously, not stabilized and because the shots were taken in 4K I also could not take advantage of any in-camera stabilization, which in the M1 is only available from 2K resolution (4:3 format) downwards. For those shaky shots I used the really outstanding Mercalli v4 stabilization (which is impressive as far as results go) which is provided as an add-on to MAGIX Movie Edit Premium and/or Pro X: virtually no wobbling effects on the clips.
Video first edited in MAGIX Movie Edit Premium Ed. for preliminary cuts, color correction/enhancement as for exposure, brightness, shadows, mid-tones, highlights/gamma/HDR and sharpness (including curves). All clips have been stabilized when required via Mercalli v4 in MAGIX Movie Edit Premium Ed.. The video was then exported in 4K UHD 3840x2160 @30fps. Further editing carried out in DaVinci Resolve for aspect ratio correction for cinematic black bars at the top and bottom of the frame, further scenes cuts and clips re-arrangement plus BG music sync. No LUTS and/or color grading was applied to the clips, which were shot in YI M1 “vivid” mode. The final video was then rendered in DaVinci Resolve 16 (Beta, trial version) in 4K UHD 3840x2160 @30fps. Video file-size: 11.0GB, average bit rate: 149Mb/s. This video took 2 entire days of processing and post-production work, not including the time spent on location for taking the shots.
P.S. I apologize for that glitch visible in a bunch of frames between min 5:24 and 5:25 (a rather large, pixelized, spot/pattern in a blank scene between two scenes) but that, to me, seems an issue with my DaVinci Resolve setup. It occurred to me in other videos as well and I don’t seem to understand what is causing this issue: in fact, the video rendered in MAGIX Movie Edit, which I threw at DaVinci for further processing in the second stage of the production, didn’t have that awful pixelized spot/pattern in the scene and it wasn’t there not even during playback in DaVinci. The scenes themselves where totally clean. That defect has clearly been introduced at rendering time, and it’s totally random, there can be many and anywhere in the video. I can only see that defects once the rendering is completed. I’m investigating what might be the cause of that glitch. A further editing stage, again, in DaVinci just to get rid of that spot in the video would have very likely not entirely fixed the problem but maybe just created another one else where.

Estas estradas estreitas e sinuosas ligam pequenas e bonitas aldeias. Todo o percurso é fantásticos e as vistas panorâmicas soberbas.
EN// If the towns along Lake Como are worthy of being shared, the roads we have traveled between those locations as well. We decided to publish the images captured by GoPro for those who want to enjoy them.
The route between Menaggio and Porlezza we decided not to take along the SS340 (main road) and venture along the country roads. These narrow and sinuous roads connect small and beautiful villages. The entire route is fantastic and the views superb.

[4K] - YI M1 test footage - “Mottarone” (VB, IT) - Italy - 83Mbps
Video made with clips shot on June 17th on the top of mount “Mottarone” (Verbania province, Stresa, Italy), overlooking “Lake Maggiore”, and other few locations nearby (Lesa). Made to test video quality of this little micro 4/3 mirror-less camera. Lenses used: 12-40mm kit zoom (mostly) + NIKON AF-S DX 18-55mm VRII + VIVITAR 24 & 28mm f2.8 Wide Angle (with adapter). Clips were mostly shot on tripod and color corrected/enhanced and some (those shot hand-held) also stabilized in post. No further color modification (profile) was applied to the clips.
The “panorama” was just beautiful, despite the rather misty/foggy day (rather poor air quality), which did not help to achieve better and cleaner view and visibility in the far distance.
Video edited in CyberLink’s PowerDirector 16 Ultimate Ed. and rendered in 4K UHD @30fps, 83Mbps average bit rate. Video file size: 2.5GB. Duration: 4m:17s.
Thank you very much to everyone for watching and comment! I hope you enjoy this video, as much as I enjoyed making it.

Lake Lugano, Porlezza, Lombardy, Italy, Europe
Lake Ceresio is a glacial lake which is situated on the border between southern Switzerland and northern Italy. The lake, named after the city of Lugano, is situated between Lake Como and Lago Maggiore. It was cited for the first time by Gregory of Tours with the name Ceresio in 590 AD, a name which is said to have derived from the Latin word cerasus, meaning cherry, and refers to the abundance of cherry trees which at one time adorned the shores of the lake. The lake appears in documents in 804 under the name Laco Luanasco. Well known mountains and tourist destinations on the shores of the lake are Monte Brè (925m) east, Monte San Salvatore (912m) west of Lugano and Monte Generoso (1,701m) on the south-east shore. The World Heritage Site Monte San Giorgio (1,097m) is situated south of the lake. The Italian waters of Lake Lugano area not included in the EU VAT area. The first certain testimony of a political body governing the shores of the lake is from 818 AD. Occupying an area of strategic importance, the lake was then part of the feudal dominion of the County of Sperio. Around 1000 AD, it came under the control of the Bishop of Como. The region was the site of the war between Como and Milan over control of Alpine traffic from 1218 to 1227. As the lake and its shores became progressively incorporated into the Duchy of Milan they became the subject of political and territorial contention during the 15th century, and Lugano became the lake's main town. The lake definitively ceased to belong to a single sovereign political entity following the establishment of the transalpine bailiwicks of the Swiss cantons at the beginning of the 16th century. The Italian-Swiss border was fixed in 1752 by the Treaty of Varese, and has since remained virtually unchanged. In 1848, the Melide causeway was built on a moraine between Melide and Bissone, in order to carry a road across the lake and provide a direct connection between Lugano and Chiasso. Today the causeway also carries the Gotthard railway and the A2 motorway. The lake is 48.7 km2 in size, 63% of which is in Switzerland and 37% in Italy, has an average width of roughly a kilometre, a maximum depth of 288 m (944.88 ft) found in the northern basin. The culminating point of the lake's drainage basin is the Pizzo di Gino summit in the Lugano Prealps (2,245 m). Bathing in the lake is allowed at any of the 50 or so bathing establishments located along the Swiss shores. The Italian waters of the lake and the exclave of Campione d'Italia are considered by Italian law as non-territorial for fiscal purposes and as such enjoy a special tax status as a duty-free area, exemption from EU VAT and offer residents other advantageous tax privileges. The Melide causeway separates the northern (27.5 km²) and southern (21.4 km²) basins, although a bridge in the causeway permits water flow and navigation. The lake retention time of the northern basin (11.9 years) is considerably higher than the southern one (2.3 years) (8.2 years on average). The lake is navigable, and used by a considerable number of private vessels. Passenger boats of the Società Navigazione del Lago di Lugano (SNL) provide services on the lake, principally for tourist purposes, but also connecting Lugano with other lake-side communities, some of which have no road access. Fishery in the lake (and Lake Maggiore) is regulated by an agreement between Switzerland and Italy of 1986. The current agreement on navigation dates from 1992. Pollution has long been a problem in Lake Lugano. In the 1960s and 1970s it was officially forbidden to bathe in the lake. Despite the continued introduction of sewage treatment plants - e.g. in Gandria, factors such as lake retention time and lack of oxygen and increasing phosphor concentrations means it is unclear if the lake will recover. The Federal Office for the Environment last published report on Lake Lugano dates from 1995. The lake is full of fish. Apart from a few protected areas, such as the mouth of the River Cuccio in Porlezza, fishing is allowed anywhere, although according to various regulations. Protected species are the bleak and the white clawed crayfish (Austropotamobius pallipes). The bleak is almost extinct here, unlike in Lago Maggiore, and planning is under way for the controlled repopulation of the lake, particularly around Ponte Tresa. In 1895 the brook trout was introduced from Lake Zug, while between 1894 and 1897 the common whitefish was introduced. Since 1950 attempts have been made to introduce the whitefish Coregonus macrophthalmus from Lake Neuchâtel, but it has not established itself effectively.
The Common Roach is present in large numbers and took around ten years to colonise the entire lake, thereby replacing the bleak. Still present are the European chub, tench, carp and a few examples of European perch, largemouth bass, zander and burbot. Recently the wels catfish has also been spotted, and the pigo has also been spotted too.
[4K] - “LANDSCAPES” - YI 4K/TOMTOM Bandit - DAVINCI RESOLVE/MAGIX PRO X- 220 Mb/s
This video was made with some footage shot a while ago (2017/2018) and mostly still unused, taken mainly with my YI 4K action cam. Some footage shot with the TOMTOM Bandit was also used to make this video. Some footage was indeed previously used for videos uploaded to my channel, but all material in this video has been entirely re-processed in DaVinci Resolve (16, Beta) for better and improved color correction, mid-tones, shadows, highlights, sharpness and gamma/HDR. All clips have also been processed in MAGIX Pro X for fish-eye lens corrections and stabilization (via Mercalli v4). The clips taken with the TOMTOM Bandit are some time-lapses shot in full 4K resolution and some 4K clips shot at 15fps which have been upscaled to full 4K @30fps via DaVinci Resolve Optical Flow interpolation engine. All clips combined have then been imported and processed for final rendering in DaVinci Resolve 16 along with BG music sync and exported in 4K UHD 3840x2160 @30fps.
Video file-size: 6.50GB. Average bit rate: 220Mb/s
