Places to see in ( Galicia - Spain ) Monte de San Pedro
Places to see in ( Galicia - Spain ) Monte de San Pedro
This hilltop park 2km northwest of the city centre provides exceptional views over the city and coast, and contains the Cúpula Atlántica, an observation dome with displays on A Coruña, as well as a maze, cafe, restaurant and two very large 1920s guns. Part of the fun is getting up there in the Ascensor Panorámico, a large glass ball that slowly ascends the steep hillside from the Paseo Marítimo.
What has been an old defensive point, has become the best viewpoint of A Coruña. From the top of Mount San Pedro you can see the coming and going of boats guided by the millennial lighthouse.
You will be impressed by the presence of the immense canyons. Machines of war that before defended the city and that now point to the horizon so that nobody misses the best sunset.

Places to see in ( Galicia - Spain ) Plaza del Obradoiro
Places to see in ( Galicia - Spain ) Plaza del Obradoiro
Praza do Obradoiro is main square of the Santiago de Compostela old town, although not placed at the real centre. Plaza del Obradoiro lies to the West of the main façade of the Santiago de Compostela cathedral, and thus the Pórtico da Gloria must be crossed to get into the building from the square.
Plaza del Obradoiro is surrounded by four important buildings, said to represent the four powers of the city: the aforementioned Santiago de Compostela cathedral to the East (the Church), Hostal dos Reis Católicos (the doctors and bourgeoisie) to the North, Pazo de Raxoi (the government; after the Spanish transition to democracy was seat for the President of the Xunta of Galicia, nowadays the city council) to the West and the Colexio de San Xerome (the university) to the South.
Once being crossed by cars, now is mainly pedestrian as the rest of the old town, with only traffic for taxis and (un)loading delivery lorries. The floor is decorated by eight rays starting from the center, where a plaque commemorates the World Heritage Site pilgrims' way of Camiño de Santiago, whose final target is around here.

7 Spooky Camino Facts | CaminoWays.com
The Camino de Santiago takes walkers to Santiago de Compostela, capital of Galicia, a land of rich folklore, colourful legends and frightening spirits. Many also believe witches still exist in Galicia, living in disguise and mixed in with the general population.
With Halloween just around the corner, here are 7 spooky facts about the Camino:
-The Coast of Death
The Costa da Morte, on Galicia's Atlantic coast, stretches from Fisterra to Malpica. English seamen in the XIV century frequently referred to this land as the Coast of Death, as it was known to be a black spot for shipwrecks, due to its difficult and dangerous geography. Fisterra was also considered the end of the world and a very special place by Romans and pagans, where the sun disappeared behind the sea, connecting both the world of the living and the dead.
Along the Fisterra Way, you will also find many oscillating stones (pedras de abalar), said to predict tragedies.
-Square of the Dead & The Pilgrim Ghost
In Santiago de Compostela, you will find the imposing Quintana square at the back of Santiago's cathedral, which is said to have 'invisible' residents. The square is divided in two by a set of stairs: the upper part of the square is called Quintana dos Vivos (Quintana of the Living), while the lower part of the square is the Quintana dos Mortos (Quintana of the Dead), as it was used as a burial ground until 1780. The shadow of a pilgrim is said to appear in a corner of the square every night.
-Bonaval Park
After 1780, the burial ground for the city got moved to San Domingos de Bonaval. Many head to Bonaval Park, next to the convent, to find a peaceful reading or relaxing green space with lovely views of the city. Opened in 1994, the park sits on the old cemetery grounds.
-Avoid crossroads
While in Galicia, you must also be careful not to bump into the Santa Compaña, a procession of dead souls feared by many. This very unique procession of restless souls wanders about after midnight, particularly favouring crossroads in the country lanes and being particularly active on special nights such as Halloween but also Mid-Summer.
If you meet them at a crossroads you should draw a circle on the ground and step inside it to avoid being taken by the group.
-Stone crosses
Due to this fear of the Santa Compaña, many 'cruceiros' (stone crosses) are very strategically placed in crossroads all over Galicia's countryside. Now you know their real purpose: they will help you escape the recruitment efforts of the Santa Compaña, particularly this time of the year!
-Soul Pockets (Petos de Animas)
Also frequently found on country crossroads, 'petos de ánimas' (soul pockets) are designed to gather little token offerings for 'the souls', so they can leave the purgatory and reach heaven. Once in heaven, they will intervene for those who have left a little gift.
-Queimada
If anything else fails to keep you safe from scary spirits along the Camino de Santiago, we recommend you have a sip of Queimada (literally meaning 'burnt'), a punch drink made of Galician spirited 'augardente' mixed with lemon peel, coffee beans, cinnamon and sugar. A special spell is read out while setting alight the concoction so the Queimada will keep the bad spirits and witches away.

Places to see in ( Galicia - Spain ) Castillo de Vimianzo
Places to see in ( Galicia - Spain ) Castillo de Vimianzo
The Castle of Vimianzo , also known as Torres de Martelo , is located at the entrance of the town of Vimianzo , in the town hall of the same name, province of La Coruña . At present it hosts a permanent exhibition of popular crafts.
Castillo de Vimianzo is in very good condition. It conserves parts of century XIII , although the majority belong to the centuries XIV and XV. The building has irregular polygonal floor plan adapting to the terrain. It consists of three rectangular defensive towers around a courtyard of weapons in addition to the tribute tower , with its cantilevered battlements. The diamond-studded battlements that once surrounded the entire castle are only preserved in the Tower of Homage and in the walk of one of the walls.
Its perimeter is surrounded in its entirety by a deep moat. It also preserves the way of round and in the doorway of entrance to the patio you can see the shield with the head of wolf of Moscoso.
The closeness of the fortress to the coast allowed him to control the commercial routes of the North Sea , the sardine and salt business, and rescue the booty of ships that were wrecked on these coasts.
