The Galapagos Islands are a small archipelago of islands belonging to Ecuador in the eastern Pacific Ocean. The islands are quite remote and isolated, lying some 1000 km (620 miles) west of the South American continent. The Galapagos archipelago consists of 13 main islands and 6 smaller isles, which together embrace some 50,000 sq km (19,500 sq miles) of ocean.

On each island, the number of visitors are limited and there are only a small number of official landing and visitor sites. You must follow the instructions of your guide to protect the wildlife and you are not allowed off the marked paths. This is not a problem as the animals are so tame they will sit right on the path or cross it without caring about mere tourists.
The Charles Darwin foundation administers several research stations throughout the islands, including a large station in Puerto Ayora that is worth visiting for its animal and natural history exhibits, the Galapagos Interpretation Center in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno and the Tortoise Breeding Center are the most interesting of the breeding centers in Puerto Villamil.

Bartolome Island
==============
A very small island teemed with great views and wildlife next to its neighbour San Salvador (James) island. The most photographed view of the islands is found here, the famous Pinnacle Rock and the distant islands. A wooden staircase allows us to gradually ascend to the top of this large cone, without adding physical damage (erosion) to the path itself. This small island offers plenty of rewarding activities.
Wildlife highlights: Being a young island, it only allows pioneer species to conquer and thrive here. Geology and scenery are fascinating. Pinnacle Rock is by all means the best photographic attraction.
Cruises in Galapagos Islands

Cruises are the only option to see the majority of remote islands.Galapagos Cruises on the Galapagos Islands Imagine Ecuador [29] The Galapagos Tours 36, other options for selecting a cruise in the Galapagos Islands from local operators are Galapagos Boutique Yachts 37, Galapagos by Voyagers Travel, amongst other specialized travel agents.
An important cruise review site to look at and find trip reports and comments refering to the different boats operating in the archipelago is: Galapagos Travel Advisor 39.
Although the Galapagos Islands are a beautiful once -in- a -lifetime experience no matter which boat you are on, remember that you'll still spend a considerable amount of your holiday on board. Here are the most common considerations when choosing a boat.
Do I take a Galapagos Large or Galapagos Small Boat?
Small Galapagos boats, as well as impressive cruise ships have both advantages and drawbacks.
Small Galapagos Yachts:
-------------------------------------------------
For those who prefer a more intimate experience onboard and on the islands, we recommend choosing a small yacht. The small yachts that we offer are typically handmade romantic sailboats or swift modern motor yachts that offer high quality personal service. All the confort and luxury on board you will find on the Galapagos Catamarans38
There is less impact on the fragile Galapagos environment. Another advantage to small yachts is the fact that often, large ships cannot anchor or disembark at some visitor sites due to their size or a high number of passengers.
Galapagos Cruise Ships: [Cruises]
===========================
For those that want the extra safety, social feel, amenities, stability, and spaciousness that cruise ships provide, larger ships may be the ideal way to visit the Galapagos. The Galapagos National Park sets a wise limit on ships to 100 passengers.
The cruise ships offer more spacious and often more comfortable standards in service and accommodations than you thought necessary, but will truly enhance your trip.
Charter a Galapagos Boat If you are group of students, a corporation, a club, on a honeymoon and want a private experience, or any group of people who wants to explore the Galapagos Islands on a chartered boat.

Welcome to our page. Thanks for checking us out!
Let’s not pretend the Galapagos are cheap but let’s not also be fooled by the $15,000 Luxury Cruses that so many places seem to say are the only way to see this beautiful Archipelago. While it is more expensive than the mainland ,this destination is home to 25,000+ permanent residents and you can be darn sure they don’t live here for $45,000 a month.
So we set out to share what our Galapagos adventure cost us and we think that many people will be surprised and excited to see that they too can visit these islands!
Total Spent on San Cristobal = $432 USD for 8 days.

Galapagos Islands Vacation Travel Video Guide
Modern residential buildings dominate the townscape of Quito, the capital of Ecuador, that was founded in Spanish colonial times. Quito is the starting point for most journeys through this fascinating county that is situated on the Equator and which offers both cultural as well as many natural attractions and most especially, the Galapagos Islands. The journey to the fascinating animal kingdom of the Galapagops Islands begins in Baquerizo Moreno the largest settlement on the island which also has the largest fishing harbour of the entire archipelago. The rolling movement of the Poseidon, the expedition’s diving boat, provides a hint of the adventures that lie ahead. The remarkable biodiversity of the islands is also evident in the various species of birdlife that are to be found there. As opposed to the reptiles that are endemic, around fifty percent of the world’s bird species inhabit the archipelago. The flame-red Sally Lightfoot Crab that is to be found on most of the rocky coastline is particularly easy to spot on the dark volcanic rocks of the islands. The Humboldt Current that travels from Antarctica and past the South American coast, added to the water that surges up from the depths of the ocean, provides the archipelago with nutrient rich water that attracts huge shoals of fish. The most famous visitor to the islands arrived in 1835 and today the name of scientist Charles Darwin is inseparably associated with the archipelago. Following his stay on the island he formulated the world famous Theory Of Evolution, the theory of natural selection. The fifty islands of the archipelago are one of the great wonders of nature and fortunately have retained their natural beauty right up to the present day.

In this video you will see a bit more of the trails, wildlife, and snorkeling you can do within walking distance of the town (including one of the most friendly sea turtles around. Galapagos Islands: Snorkeling with Sea Lions
Galapagos Islands – Summer 2018 - Episode #5
Snorkeling with sea lions at La Loberia in San Cristobal was a big highlight of the trip. We started out keeping our distance and taking pics and videos of fish, but as we kept diving down, the sea lions got curious and began to come over and interact. From that point on, it was a work out.. diving down, spinning and twirling underwater as the sea lions darted around us… all on their own terms. Eventually it was time for another siesta as they began to float at the top, resting. It was incredible.
At the end of the video is an overview of our dinner at a restaurant called Descanso Marinero. This was a great place to eat if you are hungry… with a ton of food. We paid about $17 for our sizzling plate of rice and seafood. There are cheaper places to eat, but this was a nice splurge.

Galapagos Airport Baltra to Puerto Ayora Santa Cruz
How to get from Baltra Airport to Puerto Ayora and how much to pay for this trip.Travel time will be around 60 - 90 minutes depending on the ferry.
100US$ National Parc entrance fee needs to be paid at the airport. If you don't have enough money the police will take your passport and return it in Puerto Ayora once you pay the fee.
For returning from Puerto Ayora to Baltra remember that there are only 3 buses a day (6:30 - 8:00 AM) A taxi instead would cost you around 25 US$.
The ecological airport uses solar power, recycled rainwater and wind energy, making it the first of its kind.
It only operates during the day, which will cover the tourist demand in the Galapagos of about 300,000 passengers a year.
The growth of tourism in the Galapagos registers positive figures; since 2006 it has grown by 11.5%. The population of the Galapagos has a restricted number of inhabitants, about 30,000, and has special regulations that protect its flora and fauna in order to maintain the natural state of the unaltered islands.
The province is located about 1,000 kilometers from Ecuador’s coastline.
The airport located in Baltra Island, which does not have access to freshwater and where access to rainwater is limited, has a desalinization plant that will provide water for the terminal to be used in restrooms. Toilet wastewater will be recycled.
