Forming part of the larger Punjab region of the Indian subcontinent, the state is bordered by the Indian states of Jammu and Kashmir to the north, Himachal Pradesh to the east, Haryana to the south and southeast, Rajasthan to the southwest, and the Pakistani province of Punjab to the west. The state covers an area of 50,362 square kilometres, 1.53% of India's total geographical area. It is the 20th-largest Indian state by area.   • 1. Jang-e-Azadi Memorial Jalandhar
    Jang-e-Azadi Memorial is a memorial and museum being built in Kartarpur of Punjab, India, in memory of contribution and sacrifices made by the Punjabi community in Indian independence movement. The memorial will be built over an area of 25 acres at the cost of Rs 200 crore. Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal laid the foundation stone of the Jang-e-Azadi memorial on 19 October 2014, and actual work started on 26 March 2015. A committee of historians, journalists and intellectuals was constituted to finalize the action plan and concept of the memorial to be built up.
