Armenia Colombia Travel Video
Armenia Colombia Travel Video - Colombias coffee region is one of the most popular places for foreign Travelists visiting the country. The paisa, a nickname for people from this region, are said to be some of the most friendly and welcoming people in all of Colombia. They open their doors to outsiders, giving an intimate look into the regions coffee farms, history, and unique environment.
The coffee triangle encompasses a number of small towns and cities spread out over 3 Colombian states or departments. At the center of this region, sitting comfortably between Colombias 3 major cities (Bogota, Medellin, and Cali) is the small city of Armenia, capital of Quindío. This city is often overlooked by travelers despite it being the jumping off point for most of the coffee regions greatest highlights.

7 CITIES TO VISIT IN COLOMBIA / 7 CIUDADES PARA VISITAR EN COLOMBIA
These are some of the cities that you should visit during your stay in Colombia .
Estas son algunas de las ciudades que deberías visitar en tu paso por Colombia.
Why Visit Colombia?
There are many undiscovered reasons why foreigners should visit Colombia .
The weather averages about 65 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit year round in Cali. There is rarely a need for air-conditioning or heat. Medellin is similar, but a little cooler. Bogotá is cool to cold at night; Not what you would expect close to the equator.
Colombia is not as dangerous as it was a few years ago, or as bad as you view on TV. Seniors can feel very comfortable and safe walking around Manizales, even if you don't speak the language.
There are many beautiful beaches; many of the most popular on the mainland are located near Cartagena and Santa Marta, and on the offshore Island of San Andreas.
Colombia is known for its beautiful women.
Colombia’s cost of living is less than most countries.
Colombia is known for its rich biodiversity. It ranks in the top 2 or 3 countries in the world for species of birds and butterflies. The national tree, the Quindío Wax Palm, grows in the Andean high altitude valley of Cocora. Over 160 feet tall, it towers over other vegetation, making a very unique landscape scene. Birdwatching is a huge industry and I predict that, given the large number of species in Colombia, the department of Caldas' efforts to attract birdwatchers and the attitude of coffee growers eg in supporting the Colombian Bird Festival; the very pleasant climate and the delightful people, that soon birdwatchers from all over the world will make a beeline there.
There are many reasons to visit Colombia. If you visit once, you will want to come back

Salento Quindío Colombia
It is perhaps the most important municipality for tourism in Quindío, this due to three fundamental reasons. The first, the beautiful and preserved architecture bequeathed from the Antioquia colonization; the second, the imposing Valle de Cocora or Cocora Valley, which at the landscape level is one of the most beautiful in Colombia; and the third, because of a contagious environment of peace and well-being that is immediately impregnated, is up.
To get there, take the road that connects Armenia with Pereira, making the detour to the right at km 17. Salento appears at the end of a curved road that distils through the valley of the Quindío River and passes in front of the typical inns of the corregimiento de Boquía. The so-called father of the municipalities of Quindío, was the first to be founded by the Antioqueno settlers in the mid-nineteenth century.
Located 26 km from Armenia, on the western side of the Central Cordillera and northeast of the department, Salento in Quindio Colombia, is like a historical recount of the region, as its streets reflect intact the tradition of the initial settlers. Tradition that even today many strive to preserve so that the place projects its full charm. This town Salento, has colorful houses and balconies adorned with flowers has among the residents some foreigners who some day bequeathed and decided to stay trapped by the charm of the place.
Distance from Medellín to salento quindio is 248 kms
That is why it is common to meet in any corner with Argentines, Italians, French, Americans or Spaniards; even, some of them just entered the wonderful streets of Salento, still wandering with their baggage in search of the cultural atmosphere and the wonders of the landscape.

Hiking in Colombia: Jardín Antioquia
Jardin, Antioquia, Colombia is one of the most beautiful pueblos (small colonial towns) located in the department of Antioquia, about 4 hours from Medellin.
This town is famous for its unchanged appearance and virtually preserved colonial appearance. It's mountain views surround the town while it enclosed manicured gardens and lush green vegetation (hence the name Jardin) thanks to its year round spring-like climate. Jardin is a designated Pueblo de Patrimonio – a colonial town designated by Colombia for tourism and investment is provided for preservation and tourism activities.
Just a short walk outside of town is some of the best hiking in Colombia.
We think it's a dream hiking destination because of its virtually untouched pathways with few tourists, a glimpse of local life as you walk through farms and small villages and some spectacular waterfalls and caves.
There are excellent day hikes in Jardin to see:
-El Salto de Angel Jardin
A waterfall in dense jungle with a 50-meter drop and the
Cueva de los Guácharos a spectacular cave, perfectly carved by the flowing river waters
Previously we did the hike to La Cueva Del Esplendor – another fantastic hike into caves, however, it is on private land, and due to erosion it is still closed for tourists.
This is just a small glimpse of the many options for hikes outside of Jardin, each with its own set of jaw-dropping views of the town on the way down.
Birdwatching and Jardin Coffee tours are other top things to do in this laid-back town or for some adventure there is paragliding, and Caving and rappelling
How to organize Hikes in El Jardin Antioquia:
You need to hire a guide to do these hikes. We recommend Jardin Eco Tours – you can visit them on line, or head to their office a couple of blocks away from the main square off of Calle 10 #6-05
How to get to Jardin:
How to get to Jardin from Medellin:
From Terminal Sur – Catch a Jardin bus it takes 3-4 hours depending on traffic and costs about 40,000 pesos. Rapid Ochoa Jardin bus company is a great option.
How to get to Jardin from the South (From Manizales and the coffee zone)
This way is a little more challenging. Wherever you are in the coffee zone, you need to take a transfer to Rio Sucio. You need to take a collectivo (small van) to Rio Sucio, then transfer to Jardin. This journey is roughly 2 hours, and it costs about 20,000 pesos
