Places To Visit In Johannesburg
Happy Island Waterworld | South Africas BIGGEST Water Park
We have had so many people asking us to visit Happy Island Waterworld and make a video...so we couldn't resist.
They are not yet finished construction or all the ground work, but they gave Johannesburg what they asked for, and that was to open...so I commend them on that.
Its going to be amazing to see how the place will look when they are finished...we cant wait...but for now, here's exactly what you missing out on!
Enjoy!

Top Five Things to do on Roosevelt Island | New York City | Interesting Travel Facts
Check out the TOP 5 THINGS TO DO on ROOSEVELT Island!
Part of Manhattan, technically, Roosevelt Island has long felt lost, under the shadow of the Erector-Set Queensboro Bridge in New York's East River. It was once Blackwell's Island, then Welfare Island, has been home to insane asylums and prisons, then hospital out-patients and UN workers. A tram then subway only reached the island in the mid '70s.
And it's kinda weird. The slightly drab, uniform housing (for the most part, there are new condos that glimmer more) feels like an improved version of a Stalinist housing block. In a good way, I mean.
Things are changing. Roosevelt Island has always offered nice riverside walks without crowds, good looks to Manhattan's Upper East Side. Last year a $25 million renovation of the famed tram – as seen in 'Spiderman' (and Lego Spiderman) – keeps the commitment for the most unique commute in the Big Apple, and a new park just opened this month.
Here are five of the best things to do on Roosevelt Island, New York City:
1. The tram
Obviously. For a swipe of the subway MetroCard you can glide over Upper East Side avenues and the East River and reach the island on one of the city's most memorable commutes. Watch this 60-second video with one of the drivers who's worked for it since it opened in the '70s.
2. North Point Lighthouse
Alonely Gothic-revival lighthouse, built in 1872 by the city to help light a nearby insane asylum. The asylum's gone, but there's some shady lawns and sitting spots by the lighthouse that look north towards Randall's Island as if you situated plump in the middle of the East River. In all, a very unique vantage point in New York.
3. The Smallpox Hospital Ruins
Towards the (closed off) south point, the ruins of the weed-covered smallpox hospital look like a medieval castle, abandoned for far longer than its mid 19th-century birthday. It's interesting to see what will come of the area. And the views are nice. From the tram, it's a 10-minute walk south.
4. Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park
The four-acre park stands at the southernmost point of Roosevelt Island. Looking south, the visitor has a clear view of the United Nations building; to the north of the park is the Queensboro Bridge, which spans the East River. Approaching from the north, the visitor passes between a double row of trees that narrow as they approach the point, framing views of the New York skyline and the harbor. The memorial is a procession of elegant open-air spaces, culminating in a 3,600-square-foot plaza surrounded by 28 blocks of North Carolina granite, each weighing 36 tons. The courtyard contains a bust of Roosevelt, sculpted in 1933 by Jo Davidson.
At the point, the monument itself is a simplified, roofless version of a Greek temple in granite. Excerpts from Roosevelt's Four Freedoms speech are carved on the walls of this room-like space, which is open to the sky above.
The memorial is constructed entirely in Mount Airy Granite sourced from the North Carolina Granite Corporation. Over 140,000 cubic feet of Mount Airy Granite was used in the memorial's construction. In contrast with the hard granite forms, Kahn placed five copper-beech trees at the memorial's entrance and 120 little-leaf lindens in allées leading up to the monument.
