Rotorua Canopy Tours - Awesome Ziplining Through the Trees | New Zealand

My SUPER FUN experience ziplining through and over the trees with Rotorua Canopy Tours. If you're travelling in New Zealand or living in Rotorua, this is one activity well worth doing! Put it on your things to do list. It's the best!

In October 2016, I spent a few days in the Central North Island region of New Zealand.

On day 6, I made the journey home from Taupo to Wellington. However, I didn't take a direct route, instead opting to come back via Rotorua for some adventure and exploring. My first stop was the Rotorua Canopy Tours for zip lining (flying fox) and feeding a bird a worm on my hand. The next stop was lunch by Lake Rotorua. After that, I continued north to Okere Falls where there was beautiful jade water and the ruins of an old powerhouse. Finally I headed southward, bound for Wellington with a stop at Kerosene Creek to soak my feet in the hot springs and a stop on the Rangipo Desert to watch the sunset behind Mount Ruapehu. It was magic!

As an avid travel fan I've done many trips overseas trips to explore the world, learn about history & culture, experience adventure and try exotic food. However recently, I've decided to put more effort into exploring my own beautiful country - New Zealand. People come from all over the world to see NZ and rave about how amazing it is. It is time for me to see the beauty that sits right on my doorstep.

Exploring the Spooky Putangirua Pinnacles (Lord of the Rings - The Paths of the Dead film location)

Wairarapa Summer Adventure - Part 3

The final day in our 3 day adventure exploring the Wairarapa. Shirena and I drove from Lake Ferry to explore the Putangirua Pinnacles, which was one of the locations (The Paths of the Dead) featured in the Lord of the Rings movie. The location is spooky and you can see why Peter Jackson chose it for his movie.

It was the end of a short action packed three days and we were sorry to be heading home. The journey back took us through Featherston, the winding road over the Rimutakas and finally along the Hutt River back to Wellington.

If you're travelling to New Zealand and looking for things to do in the North Island around the Greater Wellington region, exploring the Putangirua Pinnacles (LOTR Paths of the Dead film location) is good exercise and spectacular to look at!
