These parks are known for their natural beauty, and some of them were even designated as National Parks long before the formation of the US National Parks Service in the early 1900's.
They are home to diverse and often unique ecosystems, as well as endangered and protected species of plants and animals.
Some of these parks are much closer to other major destinations than you might think, so getting to some of them will not be all that difficult.
