For Schopenhauer 'world as will' or the blind urge or energy of the will, is where living beings compete to survive. There are ways to break free to some degree from the servitude to the will and its attendant egoism via art and compassionate attitudes and actions. For Schopenhauer nearly all human beings are capable of aesthetic experience as the the will-less pleasure of tranquility or “pure subject of cognition.”
The pleasure of exaltation is thus tied to the felt recognition of the subject's power and freedom to detach from the pressures of his or her individual will. For Schopenhauer music especially involves feeling universal emotions, emotions shorn of particular context, motive or individual. In so far as we feel connected to all others on the level of feeling, then music has a direct connection with Schopenhauer's ethics of compassion, for the feeling that we are indeed not ultimately separate individuals but are rather unified in the in-itself of the world constitutes the basic intuitive knowledge at the root of the ethical attitude of compassion. Schopenhauer's ethics is based on taking a compassionate stance on and acting for the benefit of others.

Flatbush is well served by public transportation. On the New York City Subway, the BMT Brighton Line (B Q trains) has a number of stops within the community. The stretch of stations from Prospect Park to Avenue H is in Flatbush. All stations of the IRT Nostrand Avenue Line (2 5 trains) except President Street are also within Flatbush. The terminal Flatbush Avenue – Brooklyn College station is about one block north of Brooklyn College and one block north of the Junction Mall.[19]
The B6, B8, B35, B41, B44, B49, Q35 are MTA Regional Bus Operations routes that serve the neighborhood; some of them also have limited-stop variants. In addition, the B103, a wholly limited-stop bus, runs through Flatbush.[20]
The major roadways through Flatbush include Flatbush Avenue, Ocean Avenue and Ocean Parkway, which are North-South corridors, and Kings Highway, Church Avenue and Caton Avenue, which are East-West corridors.

We want to show you Barcelona district by district, so we sent Asier Suescun to speak with the neighbours. Native and foreign locals to the neighbourhood give their advice and the information you need to come visit and learn, if you're interested in staying here.
Eixample is in the centre of Barcelona. Here there is everything: Markets, shops, pharmacies, bars, restaurants, and clubs... All within a short walk. Although the best thing – according to its residents – is availabilty of public transport connecting it to the rest of the city.
This video shows you everything you can see in the Eixample Dret. Like the Arc de Triomf, Rambla de Catalunya, and the famous Passeig de Gracia where there are two famous Gaudi buildings: Casa Milà and Casa Batlló.
However, they also tell us it's a quiet neighborhood. It still has life and community, where neighbours know each other in an atmosphere far from the city's waves of mass tourism.
In the video we explain the history of the Eixample district. This place is more than just a neighborhood, it is the economic centre of Barcelona. Its unique structure was designed by Ildefonso Cerda, who is considered one of the founders of modern urbanism. He devised a grid structure of buildings well oriented to the sun, designed to facilitate traffic that would not appear until a few decades later.
The neighbours tell us about the history and curiosities that can be found in the streets. They also give us tips on where to eat or go out because this neighborhood has a terrific offering for both tourists and locals.
