Rota , and not Luta, , original name is Zarpana, also known as the Friendly Island, is the southernmost island of the United States Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and the second southernmost of the Marianas Archipelago. The name Rota is believed to have come from the Spaniards possibly naming the island after the municipality of Rota, Spain. It lies approximately 40 nautical miles north-northeast of the United States territory of Guam. Sinapalo village is the largest and most populated followed by Songsong village .

This is a vlog from my recent trip back to Saipan- my home. It has been 3 years since I visited home, and I will never let it take that long for me to go back again. It was Jamie's first time seeing the island and he fell in love with it. We were originally only supposed to be there for two weeks, but I extended my trip for two extra weeks to really BE back home and spend time with my family. Hope you guys enjoy this vlog as much as I do. This place really is the most beautiful place you've never heard of.

Guam is an island in the western North Pacific Ocean. Guam is a territory of the United States of America. The capital city of Guam is Agana and the most populous city is Dededo. Guam has an area of 210 square miles. It is the southernmost and largest island in the Mariana island chain and is also the largest island in Micronesia.

POPULATION
Guam population 162,742 people. The inhabitants of Guam are called Guamanians, and they are American citizens by birth. Indigenous Guamanians are the Chamorros, who are related to other Austronesian natives to the west in the Philippines and Taiwan.

HISTORY
The indigenous Chamorros settled the island approximately 4,000 years ago. Guam was colonized by Spain in 1668. Between the 16th century and the 18th century, Guam was an important stopover for the Spanish. During the Spanish–American War, the United States captured Guam in 1898. Under the Treaty of Paris, Spain ceded Guam to the United States. Guam is among the seventeen non-self-governing territories listed by the United Nations. In 1941, hours after the attack on Pearl Harbor, Guam was captured by the Japanese. American forces recaptured the island on July 21, 1944.

ECONOMY
The economy depends on US military spending, tourism, and the export of fish and handicrafts. Over the past 20 years, the tourist industry has grown rapidly. More than 1 million tourists visit Guam each year. There are several luxury hotels along Tumon Bay, which has been highly developed as a tourist area. An international airport links Guam with other Pacific islands, Asia, and Hawaii and the continental United States.

MILITARY
There are about 7,000 US troops on Guam. The US military command combining the Anderson Air Force Base and the Naval Base Guam. Anderson Air Force Base hosts B52 bombers and fighter jets.
Naval Base Guam is the home port for four nuclear-powered fast attack submarines and two submarine tenders. American military commanders have referred to the island as their permanent aircraft carrier.
