A gallery is located in the beautiful, smallish white building, in which a famous painter lived until the second half of the 20th century. I like the little alley adjacent to it. Living in posh, central Paris may get you a fancy address, but a lot of it is pretty darn noisy. Those fortunate enough to live in a courtyard, down an alley, or in an impasse, as well as those who live in rear buildings which may have been ateliers or servants' quarters, may have problems with access (moving in and out) and parking, but they frequently enjoy peace and quiet those facing the main avenues may not have.
A lot of seeing Paris involves just walking around, looking at the varied architecture. We'd just been to THE MUSEUM OF EVERYTHING on Boulevard Raspail, temporarily housed in a former Catholic school building, and were on our way back home, when I spotted this enclave.
