Worksop is the largest town in the Bassetlaw district of Nottinghamshire, England, on the River Ryton at the northern edge of Sherwood Forest. Worksop is about 19 miles (31 km) east-south-east of the City of Sheffield.

Worksop is also twinned with the German town Garbsen. Worksop is attracting an increasing quantity of commuters to the local area because of its close proximity of Nottingham, Lincoln and Sheffield.

Worksop is known as the Gateway to the Dukeries, because of the now four obsolete ducal principal sites of which were closely located next to each other, south of the town. These four ducal locations were; Clumber House, Thoresby Hall, Welbeck Abbey and Rufford Abbey.

Worksop lies on the A57 with links to the A1, M1 and A60, allowing goods to be easily transported into and out of the area, explaining whyWilko and B&Q both have distribution centres in the area.

Worksop is on the Sheffield-Lincoln line, with trains to Sheffield, Doncaster, Meadowhall Interchange, Lincoln, Retford, Gainsborough and Shireoaks. The service is run by Northern. Worksop is also the terminus of the Robin Hood line to Nottingham and Mansfield, a service run by East Midlands Trains. At weekends Northern rail run additional trains to Cleethorpes via Worksop.

Mr Straw's House, the family home of the Straw family, was inherited by the Straw brothers, William and Walter when their parents died in the 1930s. Clumber Park, south of Worksop is a country park, also owned by the National Trust, and is open to the public.

The Acorn Theatre is a 200-seat performing arts venue in the town centre. The Regal Centre has been taken by local businessmen, Martin Gilfoyle, Steve Broadbent and Chris Frampton to provide live entertainment and recording studio facilities including professional live music and arts performances and arts training courses and social support services. This is Worksop's only prime entertainment venue. The Savoy Cinema was opened on 23 March 2012.

Coventry is a city and metropolitan borough in the West Midlands, England. Historically part of Warwickshire, Coventry is the 9th largest city in England and the 12th largest in the United Kingdom. Coventry is 95 miles (153 km) northwest of central London, 19 miles (31 km) east-south-east of Birmingham, 24 miles (39 km) southwest of Leicester and 11 miles (18 km) north of Warwick.

Coventry Cathedral was built after the destruction of the 14th century cathedral church of Saint Michael by the German Luftwaffe in the Coventry Blitz of 14 November 1940. Coventry motor companies have contributed significantly to the British motor industry. The city has two universities, Coventry University in the city centre and the University of Warwick on the southern outskirts.

The only professional football team representing the city are Coventry City F.C., formed in 1883 as Singers F.C.. Nicknamed the Sky Blues, the club competes in Football League One (third tier of English football), but spent 34 years from 1967 to 2001 in the top tier of English football, winning the FA Cup in 1987.

Stanley is a former colliery town and civil parish in County Durham, England. Centred on a hilltop between Chester-le-Street and Consett, the town lies south west of Gateshead. Stanley was formerly divided into three distinct settlements – the main town of West Stanley and the mining villages of East Stanley and South Stanley. Through a process of gradual expansion, these have become amalgamated into one town, with East and South Stanley no longer officially used as town names (although they are still recognised colloquially).

The civil parish of Stanley was created in 2007 and takes in not only Stanley, but the villages of Annfield Plain, Tanfield, Craghead, Catchgate, Tantobie, Tanfield Lea, South Moor, White-le-Head,Bloemfontein, Clough Dene, Greencroft, Harelaw, Kip Hill, The Middles, New Kyo, No Place, Oxhill, Quaking Houses, Shield Row, and West Kyo. The current Parish covers the vast majority of the former Stanley Urban District Council area, with the exception of Dipton and Burnopfield.

Stanley was first mentioned in 1211; however, some neolithic and Roman remains have been found in the area. The town's name is derived from the Old English for 'Stoney Field'. In John Speed's map of Co.Durham Stanley appears called Standley. The West Stanley Pit Disaster, one of the worst coal mining disasters in British history took place in Stanley at West Stanley Colliery on 16 February 1909 when over 160 people were killed in the Burns Pit disaster.

Over recent decades, Stanley has suffered hard times economically, with the closure of the coal pits followed by the loss of major employers at Ever Ready in nearby Tanfield, as well as the closure of both the British Steel plant and Shotley Bridge General Hospital in the neighbouring town of Consett. Local businesses in Stanley town centre were also significantly affected by the development of the giant MetroCentre shopping complex in nearby Gateshead, with local trade decreasing as a result.

The town now stretches into what were formerly neighbouring villages and towns such as Annfield Plain to the west and Beamish and Pelton to the east. This sometimes creates confusion over which local authority is responsible for certain areas, particularly around the Durham-Gateshead border to the northeast near the Causey Arch.

In recent decades, with the decline of traditional industries and the encroachment of large supermarkets and chain stores, 'Old Stanley' has declined, with many locally owned shops and pubs closing. The town's main shopping area, Front Street, is pedestrianised, housing independent shops alongside large chains such as Boots. A market is held on Front Street on Thursdays and Saturdays.
