Montmartre, Paris ... Off the Tourist Track
This is a look at the hilly Montmartre area of Paris, with emphasis on the parts of the butte that are off the well-worn tourist track.
I've already made a video that shows the touristy parts of Montmartre, such as Sacré-Cœur basilica and the artists' square (place du Tertre). You can find that on my channel, or there's a link to it at the end of this video. This considerably longer video explores just about everything except those touristy areas. Of course, all of Montmartre (and all of Paris) attracts tourists, but the density of tourists declines by at least a factor of 100 once you are off the beaten track.
There is a great deal to see in Montmartre, and this video cannot do it proper justice in 38 minutes. It's much more interesting to walk through this neighborhood than it is to see a video about it. However, I've tried to capture as much of a reasonable cross-section of Montmartre as I could, for those who don't or won't have the opportunity to see it in person.
The video shows places like the rue Lepic, avenue Junot, place Dalida, rue Cortot, rue Saint Vincent, rue des Trois Frères, rue des Abbesses, rue Caulaincourt, rue Lamarck, the Suzanne Buisson garden, the two main cemeteries on the butte, assorted stairways, other gardens, and points of interest (such as several shooting locations from the movies Amélie and Ronin), and so on.
If this videos seems quiet, that's because Montmartre is a lot quieter than the rest of Paris, since the twisty little streets discourage through traffic.

Places to see in ( Paris - France ) Palais de Chaillot
Places to see in ( Paris - France ) Palais de Chaillot
The Palais de Chaillot is a building in the Trocadéro area in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, France. For the Exposition Internationale of 1937, the old Palais du Trocadéro was demolished and replaced by the Palais de Chaillot which now tops the hill. It was designed in classicizing moderne style by architects Louis-Hippolyte Boileau, Jacques Carlu and Léon Azéma. Like the old palais, the palais de Chaillot features two wings shaped to form a wide arc: indeed, these wings were built on the foundations of those of the former building. However, unlike the old palais, the wings are independent buildings and there is no central element to connect them: instead, a wide esplanade leaves an open view from the place du Trocadéro to the Eiffel Tower and beyond.
The buildings are decorated with quotations by Paul Valéry, and sculptural groups at the attic level by Raymond Delamarre, Carlo Sarrabezolles and Alfred Bottiau. The eight gilded figures on the terrace of the Rights of Man are attributed to the sculptors Alexandre Descatoire, Marcel Gimond, Jean Paris dit Pryas, Paul Cornet, Lucien Brasseur, Robert Couturier, Paul Niclausse, and Félix-Alexandre Desruelles.
The buildings now house a number of museums:
the Musée national de la Marine (naval museum) and the Musée de l'Homme (ethnology) in the southern (Passy) wing,
the Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine, including the Musée national des Monuments Français, in the eastern (Paris) wing, from which one also enters the Théâtre national de Chaillot, a theater below the esplanade.
It was on the front terrace of the palace that Adolf Hitler was pictured during his short tour of the city in 1940, with the Eiffel Tower in the background. This became an iconic image of the Second World War. It is in the Palais de Chaillot that the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 1948. This event is now commemorated by a stone, and the esplanade is known as the esplanade des droits de l'homme (esplanade of human rights). The Palais de Chaillot was also the initial headquarters of NATO, while the Palais de l'OTAN (now Université Paris Dauphine) was being built.

Marseille, the Biggest Mediterranean Port City in France
Marseille is the second most populated city of France, the biggest mediterranean port and the economic center of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region.
Marseille has a complex history. It was founded by the Phoceans in 600 B.C. and is one of the oldest cities in Europe. The town is a far cry from the Cézanne paintings and Provençal clichés of sleepy villages, pétanque players and Marcel Pagnol novels. With around one million inhabitants, Marseille is the second largest city in France in terms of population and the largest in terms of area. Its population is a real melting pot of different cultures.
For people not afraid to discover a real place with real people, Marseille is the place. From colourful markets that will make you feel like you are in Africa, to the Calanques (a natural area of big cliffs falling into the sea), from the Panier area (the oldest place of the town) to the Vieux-Port (old harbor) and the Corniche (a road along the sea) Marseille has definitely a lot to offer.
With its beaches, history, architecture and culture, Marseille is one of the most visited cities in France. Several urban projects are developed to make Marseille attractive. Thus new parks, museums, public spaces and real estate projects aims to improve the city to attract firms and people. Marseille municipality acts to develop Marseille as a regional nexus for entertainment in the south of France with high concentration of museums, cinemas, theaters, clubs, bars, restaurants, fashion shops, hotels, and art galleries.
Marseille is a city that has its own unique culture and is proud of its differences from the rest of France. Today it is a regional centre for culture and entertainment with an important opera house, historical and maritime museums, five art galleries and numerous cinemas, clubs, bars and restaurants.

Places to see in ( Paris - France ) Saint Germain des Pres Quarter
Places to see in ( Paris - France ) Saint Germain des Pres Quarter
Saint-Germain-des-Prés is one of the four administrative quarters of the 6th arrondissement of Paris, France, located around the church of the former Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Its official borders are the River Seine on the north, the rue des Saints-Pères on the west, between the rue de Seine and rue Mazarine on the east, and the rue du Four on the south. Residents of the quarter are known as Germanopratins.
The quarter has several famous cafés, including Les Deux Magots, Café de Flore, le Procope, and the Brasserie Lipp, and a large number of bookstores and publishing houses. In the 1940s and 1950s, it was the centre of the existentialist movement (associated with Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir). It is also home to the École des Beaux-Arts, the famed school of fine arts, and the Musée national Eugène Delacroix, in the former apartment and studio of painter Eugène Delacroix.
Until the 17th century the land where the quarter is located was prone to flooding from the Seine, and little building took place there; it was largely open fields, or Prés, which gave the quarter its name. In 1673 the most famous theatrical troupe in the city, the Comédie-Française, was expelled from its building on rue Saint‑Honoré and moved to left bank
Many writers have written about this Parisian district in prose such as Boris Vian, Marcel Proust, Gabriel Matzneff (see La Nation française), Jean-Paul Caracalla or in Japanese poetry in the case of Nicolas Grenier. Egyptian writer Albert Cossery spent the later part of his life living in a hotel in this district. James Baldwin frequented the cafés, written about in Notes of a Native Son. Charles Dickens describes the fictional Tellson's Bank as established in the Saint Germain Quarter of Paris in his novel A Tale of Two Cities.
