Alba is a town in Italy’s Piedmont region. It's known for its white truffles. The Alba Cathedral, rebuilt in Gothic style, has a bell tower with city views. Nearby, the Church of San Giovanni Battista contains artworks from the 14th century onward. The Federico Eusebio Museum houses artifacts from prehistoric to Roman times, plus a natural history section.
Alba is a great town--flat for a change, as it's situated in a valley , in contrast to the plethora of hill towns. Great piazzas, gorgeous churches, nice shopping, and of course lots of restaurants and gelaterias.
Wandering the shopping streets of Alba was probably one of our favorite experiences in Piedmont . Lovely Churches to visit and restaurants, wine, truffle and gelato stores to enjoy. So much to take in.
As one of the main pedestrian streets in Alba, everybody seems to end up walking down it. Lots of bars, cafe, restaurants, stores selling local products. spent most of our time in Alba here.

Capoluogo della omonima provincia piemontese, ha circa settantaseimila abitanti. Sorge nella media valle del Tanaro, presso la confluenza con il torrente Borbore, fra Monferrato settentrionale e meridionale. Asti è gemellata con Menfi (Agrigento - Sicilia), dal 28 giugno 1997.

CASSINASCO (ASTI, PIEMONTE, ITALY)
Cassinasco, comune di 649 abitanti, provincia di Asti, Piemonte, Italia. Il feudo fu proprietà del marchese Aleramo del Monferrato che l'ottenne da Ottone I nel 967. A questi fu tolto dagli alessandrini ed in seguito passò in mano agli astigiani alleati con i genovesi, i quali nel 1227 in base il trattato di Milano furono costretti a restituirlo ad Alessandria alleata con Alba e Tortona. I vescovi di Acqui, avendo il diritto alle decime, le avevano donate a titolo di feudo ai signori di Bubbio, uno dei quali, un certo Ligerzio (o Eigerxius), nel 1305 giurò obbedienza e sottomissione al vescovo Oddone. In seguito Cassinasco cadde sotto il dominio della casa di Monferrato e ne presero possesso i Guttuari, per passare poi nel 1454 agli Sforza signori di Milano. Nel 1615 l'esercito del duca di Savoia transitò da Cassinasco e fu attaccato dagli abitanti del luogo che uccisero alcuni soldati dell'avanguardia: il villaggio fu saccheggiato e bruciato dai francesi alleati dei Savoia che si trovavano nelle file del loro esercito. Nell'incendio il castello andò completamente distrutto ad eccezione della torre tuttora esistente. Fotografie scattate domenica 12 maggio 2013 in occasione della 130esima Sagra del Polentone.

Asti (Ast in piemontese) è un comune italiano di 76.673 abitanti, capoluogo della provincia omonima in Piemonte. È il quarto comune della regione per numero di abitanti e il sesto per superficie. Municipium romano noto con il nome di Hasta Pompeia o semplicemente Hasta, fu sede del ducato di Asti, ducato longobardo della Neustria. Libero comune nel Medioevo, con diritto di battere moneta, fu uno dei più importanti centri commerciali tra XII e XIII secolo, quando i suoi mercanti svilupparono il commercio e il credito in tutta Europa.
È conosciuta in tutto il mondo per i suoi vini, in particolare l'Asti spumante: ogni anno, a settembre, vi si tiene uno dei concorsi enologici più importanti d'Italia, denominato la Douja d'Or. Negli ultimi anni ha assunto una notevole rilevanza a livello nazionale anche il Festival delle sagre astigiane, una manifestazione enogastronomica che si tiene ad Asti la settimana antecedente il Palio di Asti, dove oltre 40 pro loco della provincia di Asti propongono le loro specialità gastronomiche, accompagnate da vini DOCG astigiani, in un grande ristorante all'aperto, meta ormai di migliaia e migliaia di persone provenienti per l'occasione da tutta Italia.
