Things To Do in BELLAGIO Italy - Pearl of Lake Como
Lake Como's most beautiful town.Your Bellagio vacation would include a visit to the century-old buildings, cobbled stairways, and stone lanes. The main Bellagio attractions are the two gardens, one stretching along the lake and the other high above town. If you are looking for a perfect climate to relax, historic tours, charming gardens and villas overlooking the picturesque view of a lake, you should have Bellagio on your travel list.
One of the most enjoyable activities in Bellagio is strolling the Villa Melzi d’Eril. Originally the summer house of the former vice president of the Italian Republic, Francesco Melzi d’Eril, this complex is one of the most popular tourist spots in Bellagio wherein visitors can explore the gardens designed by Luigi Canonica and Luigi Villoresi for only 6.50 Euros. Although visitors aren’t allowed to enter the private Villa Melzi, the well-kept botanical garden is sufficient enough to make your trip to Villa Melzi d’Eril worth it. The garden is lined with plane trees as azaleas and rhododendrons encircle the villa that is now owned by the Gallarati Scotti family. Numerous exotic and unique plants, trees, camellia hedges, and other species adorn the botanical gardens. Next to the villa is a museum that displays Napoleonic memorabilia that serves as proof of Duke Melzi d’Eril’s loyalty to Napoleon.
Another attraction that exhibits the natural beauty of Bellagio is the Punta Spartivento. Punta Spartivento is a park located at the tip of the Bellagio Peninsula that offers great views of the lake wherein Lago di Lecco and Lago di Como adjoin. This spot allows you to take great photos as locals’ boats are moored in the lake. If you would like to maximize your nature tripping, you can head to Bellagio’s beaches. You can opt for the stony public stony beach of San Giovanni or the well-equipped Lido di Bellagio wherein you have access to a bar, WiFi connection, and gazebo.
