Maleku's community in Nomada Digital TV (part 1)
We visit the Maleku community, the smallest in Costa Rica
The Malekus or Guatusos are also known as the “native warriors from the Frio River”, which are a native group that have lived in the northern region of Costa Rica, in the basin of the Frio River, for about 4000 years. When visiting the Maleku Native Reserve you can learn about their oral tradition, language and culture. Today, their living areas are: Margarita, Tonjibe and Sol, all located in the Guatuso Indigenous Reserve, 6 km from San Rafael de Guatuso (near La Fortuna, Costa Rica).
Economy and Tourism of the Maleku
The maleku economy is based on agricultural production, hunting, fishing and crafts, made with natural raw materials such as gourd, raft, seeds, etc. In recent years, they have developed some ecological and cultural tourism , with organized tours, walks and sunset theater where several of their traditions and dances are represented.
You can visit the traditional gardens of healing plants and admire the animals that still live in the forest, including toucans, frogs and monkeys.
Taste their traditional cocktail “Aiqui Lica Chicha”
Visitors who come to the reserve, receive for free, a traditional drink par excellence of the Maleku: A Chicha cocktail prepared from fermented corn, water and sugar, served in containers or traditional jicaritas pupa.

Hiking trails at Santa Elena Reserve, Costa Rica
A variety of hiking trails and what to expect when visiting the Santa Elena Reserve in the Monteverde Region of Costa Rica. Santa Elena is the smaller of the two reserve areas and a bit harder to access but the payoff is better than Monteverde in my opinion. When i visited a slight rain was falling with made everything amazing.

Rio Celeste Waterfall, Parque Nacional Volcan Tenorio | Costa Rica
Rio Celeste Waterfall in Parque Nacional Volcan Tenorio. What a beautiful hike through the forest in the Tenorio Volcano National Park. Its an amazing and surreal blue color. A tricky (7.5KM/ 4.5-mile) muddy hike, but worth it.
Rocks at the bottom of the river have a mineral coating that includes silicon, oxygen, and aluminum. It is the size of these minerals, as well as the reflection of the sunlight, that gives the water its incredible hue.

Rio Celeste Hike Visit us: http://www.canoa-aventura.com
This unique hike combines nature's beauty with a great opportunity to observe the wonderful flora and fauna. During our hike through the Tenorio Volcano National Park we pass by the River Celeste Lagoon and walk along two crystal clear streams coming together to form the Rio Celeste. Here the clear waters mysteriously change into a beautiful bright, light-blue color (hence the name Light-Blue River). Walking on trails into the jungle we visit an area where volcanic smoke is expelled at high temperatures from the ground. The stunning colored Rio Celeste Waterfall where you can enjoy a refreshing swim in its natural pools will be waiting for you at the end of the path.
Rio Celeste Hike by Aventuras Arenal
Mysterious and imposing, in the very bowels of the Tenorio Volcano, manifestations of hidden power transform the union of the Buena Vista and Roble rivers into a sky blue stream, giving birth to one of the most extraordinary phenomenon's of nature: Light Blue River. Along the river we'll find hot springs, bends of heavenly tranquillity and a waterfall of singular beauty, all surrounded by varied flora and fauna. We leave at 7:30 a.m. from La Fortuna.
The tour arrives at the Tenorio Volcano National Park, were begins our 7 k.m hike (approximately 4 hours) through the tropical rain forest. It will arrive to Los Teñíderos of the Rio Celeste, the site where two streams of crystalline water come together and form the heavenly color blue that gives the river its name.
The tour returns through trails, rich with ecological wonders, and a visit to the natural hot springs by the river, all while observing the attractions of Tenorio Volcano.
We'll continue our hike through the jungle and will get to see the spectacular Rio Celeste waterfall which colour makes it one of a kind.
Our final reward is an exquisite Costa Rican typical lunch at the end of our journey, and after that, the drive back to the hotels in La Fortuna.
