1. Mirobriga Santiago Do Cacem
Miróbriga is an ancient Roman town located near the village and civil parish of Santiago do Cacém, in the municipality of the same name in the south-west of Portugal. Archeology revealed that the town occupied the site of an ancient Iron Age settlement that existed since the 9th century B.C. With the Roman colonization a commercial area developed around the Forum. The baths, among the best preserved in Portugal, consist of two adjoining buildings, possibly for male and female use respectively. The residential areas are still little known. Relatively close to the baths, there is a bridge with a single, semicircular arch. The hippodrome, the only one whose entire ground plan is completely known in Portugal, is located further from the centre.

Von da aus geht es weiter nach Santiago do Cacém, wo wir uns in einer Pastelaria leckeren portugiesischen Kuchen kaufen: Pastel de Nata, Bolo de Arroz und eine Bola de Berlim.Da es in Santiago do Cacém aber nicht so viel zu entdecken gibt, fahren wir weiter nach Melides. Dort erwartet uns ein menschenleerer Traum-Strand und eine gemütlicher Stellplatz (fast) direkt am Meer.

Alcacer do Sal is one of the oldest cities in Europe, founded before 1000 BC by the Phoenicians. According to inscriptions on coins could be named Keition. As well as neighboring and also Phoenician Lisbon and Setúbal, provided salt, salted fish, horses for export and food for the boats that traded tin with Cornwall.During the Arab rule was the capital of Al-Kassr province. Located on the Alentejo coast, next to the beach that separates fresh water from the ocean waves.The good accesses, the extensive beach, the existence of restaurants have made it one of the excellent beaches of the region. People fell in love with the village (about 4 kilometers from the beach) and the surrounding woods.
The Melides Lagoon extends inland through several kilometers of rice paddies and has to the north a sandstone cliff.
This is a good spot for birdwatching.
The beach is guarded having access by road until next to the beach, with parking accessible for cars and buses, with some equipment to support the bathing activity, besides a camping site about 1 km.
