Sapanca is a town and district in the Sakarya Province in the Marmara region of Turkey near Lake Sapanca. The town's mayor is İbrahim Uslu . Sapanca has been recently become a tourist destination, due to its stunning natural environment and its lake, called Sapanca Gölü, as well as its proximity to İstanbul and the city of İzmit, also known as Kocaeli. The town has a number of hotels and resorts.

Lake Sapanca is a fresh water lake in Turkey, between the Gulf of İzmit and the Adapazarı Meadow. The lake has a catchment area of 251 km², surface area is 45 km², a length 16 km east-west / 5 km north-south, and a maximum depth of 52 m. Lake Sapanca, Turkey Sapanca Lake is located on a tectonic hole, which is situated between Izmit Bay and Adapazari Meadow and runs parallel to Iznik Lake. The catchment area of Lake Sapanca - about 251 km2 [km²] - is surrounded by mountains in the south and small hills in the north. Water is taken from the Lake for domestic and industrial needs. The region around Sapanca has become a destination for day trips and weekend vacations.

With a remarkable length of 430 m, the bridge was mentioned by several contemporary writers, and has been associated with a supposed project, first proposed by Pliny the Younger to Emperor Trajan, to construct a navigable canal that would bypass the Bosporus.

My Funny Travel Moments Around The World: Turkey

When I travel I like to have some fun. In Turkey, you can see how nervous I was on my first (and last) hot air balloon ride or you can watch me try to negotiate an Andy's Awesome Adventures discount at The Spice Market in Istanbul and The Silk Market in Bursa. Of course, what can be more fun than giving a guided tour, not of a Turkish Bath, but of a Turkish bathroom!

I have a rental car from AutoEurope.com and have been making my way around Turkey. On this episode, I made my way to Antalya. Of course, I didn't take the main roads, but got as far off the beaten path as I could. I made stops at Beysehir Lake and drove an amazing mountain pass. Such a good day.
