Clean Up Weekend, Searsport Shores Ocean Campground, Maine 2019
We’d love to have you join us! The gathering is a mix of “regulars” and first timers…it’s the perfect opportunity to shake the bugs out of your slumbering camping equipment, meet great people, eat good food and enjoy a weekend on the coast. I feel a bit like Mark Twain here, but really we have a marvelous time! The schedule proceeds generally like this rain or shine:
Thursday or Friday drive in during daylight hours and choose a campsite. Friday night join us for pizza at the art studio…bring toppings to share and a beverage of your choice…we’ll have the dough ready for custom creations.
Saturday start the day with homemade doughnuts and coffee while we divide up the chores based on what you like to do. We’ll break for lunch…hopefully a BBQ at the beach if the weather is conducive. Dinner’s pot luck and a trivia game.
Sunday and Monday we tie up loose ends, eat leftovers and massage tired muscles.

Rockland to Belfast Maine, US 1 Dashcam Drive
Enjoy the beautiful coastal scenery on US 1 through Maine. This video begins in Rockland, and takes you up the coast to Belfast, Maine.
MyDrivelapse.com and Takemytrip.com provide driving videos and stories to help you plan your trip. Check out hundreds of videos on my YouTube channel. Subscribe if you like it! Dozens of new videos are on the way in the coming weeks.
I made this trip in early October, 2016. Video shot with a Brinno TLC-200 Pro time-lapse camera, mounted on my roof with a homemade magnetic case. I travel with two Brinno cameras - one facing forward, the other in reverse. Sometimes the reverse camera captures better video (fewer raindrops and bugs hit the rear-view lens).

Air Maine- Dobbs Productions- Bar Harbor, Maine
Jeff Dobbs Productions has been filming Maine from the air for almost a decade, and has amassed an extraordinary collection of dramatic aerial footage from all over this beautiful state. Air Maine is our second video taking Mainers, and those who love this place, on another aerial odyssey with new, breathtaking views from the belly of a helicopter. Narrated by Jack Perkins, host of A&E's Biography, Air Maine also includes spectacular footage from OpSail 2000. Music by John Cooper.

This drive begins in Howland, Maine, and heads south on Interstate 95 to Bangor, where I did some random driving and exploring through town.

Maine's Peaked Mountain Chick Hill in Autumn
CLIFTON, Maine - Peaked Mountain a.k.a. Big Chick or Chick Hill is a hiker's delight. At 1,152 feet of elevation it's granite bluff dominates the horizon for a couple of miles along Route 9 (aka “The Airline”) in Clifton, Maine.
From Bangor heading East you will see “Parks Pond Campground and the Sawmill Woods Golf Course”. Then about 1½ miles past the pond look for the tarred Chick Hill Road, which meets Route 9 on the left. Bearing right at the first curve on Chick Hill Road, you will see the gravel parking lot (i.e. school bus turnaround) used by Chick Hill hikers.
I drove my Jeep Wrangler directly to its granite summit via a communication tower access road (1.3 miles). I observed no signs/gates forbidding it and followed the power poles all the way to the top. Be warned, it contains loose gravel and gets steeper near the crest.
Once there you will be rewarded with panoramic views all the way to Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. It's literally a sight to behold, don't suppress the Wow! just let it out.
Closer inspection of the crest itself reveals the rusted remains and anchor rings drilled into the granite of a long-gone observation tower.
Bonus: If you can find an unobstructed northern view you can see Mount Katahdin on a clear day.
