5 Extraordinary Places Beyond Prague in the Czech Republic
Here are 5 suggestions for places to go beyond Prague when visiting the Czech Republic.
I absolutely love Prague, but the truth is, it has become overrun with visitors and tourist traps. While I'm not suggesting that you skip Prague altogether, I would recommend spending fewer days there and checking out some other parts of the country. The Czech Republic is not very large, as a matter of fact, all of these suggestions are just around 2 hours from the capital city. For more information on getting beyond Prague, visit:

Kutna Hora (Czech Republic) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Kutna Hora in the Czech Republic.
Kutna Hora is situated close to Prague and historically is one of the most important cities in the Czech Republic. In the Early Middle Ages the city gained its wealth from the mining of silver ore. In its heyday in the fourteenth century, the city had a population of around a hundred thousand and each year ten thousand miners extracted three million kilograms of silver from seven hundred metres below ground, which was equal to one third of the mined silver in the ancient world. In 1142 a Cistercian monastery was founded in today's Sedlec district along with the adjoining Gothic church of St. Mary, an imposing building with five naves and seven choir chapels. Following the demolition of the church by the Hussites in 1421, it lay in ruins for three hundred years until, in 1699, reconstruction in Baroque Gothic style began. Close to the monastery a cemetery chapel contains a crypt with a bone house that accommodates around forty thousand human skeletons that have been formed into numerous macabre works of art: pyramids, chandeliers, monstrances and the coat of arms of Prince Schwarzenberg are a reminder of the transience of life on Earth. However, in 1713 the Black Death arrived which marked the tragic end of the city’s prosperity that had already begun to decline when the city was twice destroyed by fire during the Hussite Wars and was further crippled due to cheap imports of silver from America. Nevertheless, Kutna Hora still shines resplendent even today.

Kutna Hora - Most Famous Bone Church in Czech Republic
If you have the time, I recommend you visit Kutna Hora located just one hour from Prague. You can take a train from Hlavni Nadrazi (main train station) for 359kc round trip.
The train ride is direct and takes 1 hour. Once you exit the Kutna Hora station, take bus #7 (local city bus), located at the main entrance for 12kc per person directly to the city center. It is very convenient. If you choose to walk, that's okay, but can take 30-35 minutes depending on you.
I suggest to start with the city center first, explore St. Barbora's Church (don't forget to loo up at the ceiling), then enjoy some food, visit the local museums and if on a cold day, enjoy some hot wine. From there, you can take a bus or walk to the Sedlec Ossuary aka the bone church. From the bone church back to the train station is either a very short bus ride.

KUTNA HORA [Day Trip from Prague, Czech Republic]
My mom and I jumped on the train from Prague to Kutna Hora for the day. Unfortunately Kutna Hora is not dog friendly at all, so we left Athena at home, while we explored the bone chapel and the lovely little village of Kutna Hora. Although it rained on and off the whole day, we had an awesome time exploring, shopping, and eating/drinking non stop… My mom fell absolutely in love with the small city. I would also like to point out that my mom is wearing a jacket that turns into a fanny pack, around her waist… she was certain you couldn’t see it… but you totally can!
