Winter in Canada Vlog | Visiting Family in Fredericton
Join us for a Winter in Canada vlog as I visit family in Fredericton to enjoy some relaxing downtime and to experience snow related activities including watching hockey, snowshoeing and enjoying a snowstorm. Audrey's family lives in Brampton, Ontario and my family live in Fredericton, New Brunswick so after spending Christmas and New Year with her family at a cottage in Seeley's Bay I hopped on a plane to spend a couple of weeks with my family.
Things got off to an iffy start when all of the flights leaving Toronto for Fredericton were canceled aside from mine. With fingers crossed I was able to make it out and the views over Toronto upon leaving were the nicest I've ever seen. A winter wonderland covered in snow with clear visibility. However, as soon as we left Ontario and entered Quebec we entered a thick blanket of clouds and the flight was super turbulent until we landed.
Upon arriving in Fredericton the snowstorm hit really hard and the entire city was covered in a thick blanket of snow. That night, prior to the start of the World Junior hockey game between Canada and Czechia I was craving a pizza and ended up having to go out in the snow to pick it up after only 1/6 places were open.
Canada ended up winning the World Junior tournament with a victory over Sweden and it was great to take it in with my Dad at home. We also ended up going to a University of New Brunswick (UNB) hockey game where they lost for the first time that I've witnessed in person.
Aside from hockey it was great to spend time with my Mom and our Maine Coon cat Hobie. He was up to his mischievous self ready to play at the drop of a hat and falling asleep in bowls on the table.
I ordered a pair of snowshoes from Amazon and had just the perfect weather to break them in with my Dad at ODell park in Fredericton. The last part of the video showcases a walk around some of the most iconic parts of Fredericton all covered in snow. For just a brief visit I had a great time being home.

Winter in Canada vlog visiting family in Fredericton Video Transcript:
Greetings from Pearson International Airport here in Toronto. As you can see this is a bit of a different vlog. I am not here with Audrey. I'm going to visit my parents for 12 days just by myself. Our parents live in different parts of Canada. My parents live in Fredericton so I'm going to see them and yeah I'm just catching a flight here from Toronto. And I thought I would show you guys a little behind the scenes of what it is like to be in Canada in the winter.
I have no idea if I'm going to make my flight to Fredericton because there is a snow storm coming there. It is like snowmageddon. Hopefully I make this flight and when I arrive in Fredericton I will show you guys what it is like to experience a snow storm in Canada.
We got pizza with pineapple, we have pepperoni and we have bacon. More importantly we have a very important hockey game to watch.
Who is playing? Canada eh! Canada eh. Canada against the Czech Republic (Czechia) and if they advance to what the semifinals. They play Sweden. We've got garlic fingers on the side and Picaroons beer.
So we've got beer. We've got pizza. We've got garlic fingers and we've got Canada going for gold. We ended up smoking them and going to the Gold Medal game.
Look we've got Hobie the great to watch the game too. Hobie the Maine Coon kitty. We won! What do you think? One more notch in the gold belt.
Tonight we have another really exciting local match we're actually going to a live game and watching a UNB game playing one of their biggest rivals here in Atlantic Canada Saint FX.
Check out all of the snow. Going snowshoeing we'll follow the trail a bit, maybe break some of our own trail. This is like the quintessential thing to do in Canada in the winter.
The snowshoeing with my Dad was great. I'm in downtown Fredericton and I thought I would leave you guys with a few winter scenes.

Winter Canadian Cottage Tour
Come join us for Canadian Cottage tour in winter as we showcase the property we rented for a holiday retreat with family at Seeley's Bay nearby Kingston, Ontario. The log cottage was the perfect size for the whole family as it comfortably fit 8 adults including Audrey's Mom and Dad, two sisters, family friend, brother inlaw and me. Vacationing there over the Christmas holidays meant we huddled by the wood burning stove for entertainment, conversation, snacks and games. With more rooms than bodies to fill them we all comfortably got our own rooms. Some of our favorite features of this three story cottage included a huge living room, game room (both upstairs and downstairs) an enormous kitchen and picture perfect views from the balcony overlooking the frozen lake. It truly was a winter wonderland escape and the type of vacation we'll hopefully take more in the future.

Winter Canadian Cottage Tour Video Transcript:
Good morning guys. It is -30 below here in Canada and I can feel the insides of my nostrils freezing. I feel like icicles are forming and my lips are freezing so I can't even speak properly. Today we are going to give you guys a cottage tour as part of our winter vacation. A beautiful log cabin so we spending eight nights here out in the forest. We are like 30 minutes north of Kingston and Seeley's Bay. We are by a lake. I'm getting mauled by the dog Togo. The German Shepherd.
This video is going to be the cabin tour because it is a beautiful home. Let's go inside before we freeze, take our layers off and we'll begin the tour. Come along Togo.
We've got my parents hanging out. They are escaping. Sorry we were going. They are running away out the living room. Now they're running away. This is the living area. This is where we've been hanging out every single day. We have this massive fireplace that heats up the whole space. I would say this is probably my favorite part of the house. Like the dog is the smartest one in the house. It ends up sleeping here at night. It just curls up on the blanket right in front of the fireplace.
Then we have this um like open kitchen and dining area. Yep. So we have this massive table like with banquets. We're going to be eight people later this week and it has been perfectly fine.
This looks like an old canoe that has been turned into a wine rack. We went to the LCBO before coming out here and we bought enough wine for what we thought would be 8 days.
We have 2 bedrooms on this floor and double beds in every single room. As you can see basically the whole house is just these massive logs as their walls. It feels so cozy and toasty in here.
We have a giant telescope and a bathroom here on the ground floor. This is 3 levels. There is a basement and there is also an upstairs too.
Let's start with the game room. We've been spending a bit of time up here actually because this place is stalked with board games. We have a collection of like yeah puzzles, monopoly, trivial pursuit. We've been playing games at night.
I forget how many bedrooms there are but it can sleep 10 people. We can fit 10 people. 10 people and that is not like sleeping on the couch or anything like some of these. No you've got your own room your own bed.
Last spot to show you guys is the balcony which probably has two feet of snow. We haven't really been shoveling here. And a dog right in front of us. We'll show you the views. We've got the lake right there. This must be beautiful in the summertime. We also have a barbecue.
So we'll leave you with views, icicles and a few shots of me shoveling the snow. And Togo my dog playing in the snow.

Our Family Winter Vacation in Canada
Join us for our family winter vacation in Canada as we meet up with Audrey's family and Togo the German Shepherd to spend the holiday season and Christmas together at large cabin located in Seeley's Bay, Ontario not too far from Kingston. Whenever we're traveling abroad the one thing we miss most about Canada is our family and friends. Having a chance to spend quality time with them is something we truly relish when we're back home in Canada.
With this in mind we decided to embrace the spirit of a Canadian winter by renting a large cabin for the entire family to enjoy. Here we enjoyed quality time together by the fire, drinking wine, having conversations, playing board games, cooking meals and eating really well. In terms of heading outside to enjoy winter activities we did a lot of sledding and tobogganing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and walking along with playing with Togo the German Shepherd.
More than anyone else, it was the dog who loved being outside. Overall, it was a wonderful winter vacation in Canada and something we're considering doing again in the summer for a completely different atmosphere and feel.
What we did during our winter holiday in Canada:
1) Sledding
2) Wine Drinking
3) Snowboarding
4) Family Dinners
5) Snowshoeing
6) Cooking
7) Making Snow
8) Snowy Walks

Our Family Winter Vacation in Canada Video Transcript:
Hey guys. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. You're probably going to be watching this video several months down the line. Yep. It might even be springtime but we wanted to make a video of our winter holidays here in Canada. And show you what that is like. Yeah, so basically we finished our travels I think it was December 10th. We came back from Italy and we spent a couple of weeks at home in Brampton.
Originally we were going to go to Florida. We were. This was like a few months ago that was our original plan but then we decided like you know what? There has been some bad weather down there this year and we decided why don't we embrace a Canadian winter. It was actually decided for us when our airbnb host canceled our reservation.
Oh yeah that is right. I forgot that small detail. My family started looking for other possibilities and they settled on a cottage here up north. We're in Seeley's Bay so that is like three hours east of Toronto. Near Kingston and then a half hour north in the woods basically. It is not far at all from Kingston and it is a massive house. It has got three levels. We've got a really big ground level, we've got an upstairs and of course we've got a basement. The great thing about this particular vacation with family is that everyone is here. All of your sisters are here. The dog is here. Togo is here.
And it is just been great. We've really been embracing the winter. We've been going outside doing all kinds of things. Chasing the dog, playing fetch with the dog, also tobogganing. We're doing snowshoeing. We're going to be maybe even snowboarding. I think your sisters are coming back with their snowboards. Back with snowboards. Snowboards and then just to have fun we've all kind of been huddling around the fire playing games, talking, drinking lots of wine. It has just been wonderful.
We've had a lot of family time and we're basically just going to show you what our whole experience has been like. This video is going to be all about the holidays. We're here in this cottage for 8 days and we're basically going to show you what we get up to.
We're going to say it on two. One, two, three. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Woo!
