Cyclades Islands from air, 2016 - Andros - Mykonos - Delos - Santorini - Milos
The Cyclades Prefecture (Greek: Νομός Κυκλάδων)
The Cyclades comprise about 220 islands, the major ones are:
Amorgos
Anafi
Andros
Antiparos
Delos
Eschati
Ios
Kea
Kimolos
Kythnos
Milos
Mykonos
Naxos
Paros
Folegandros
Serifos
Sifnos
Sikinos
Syros
Tinos, and
Thira or Santoríni
The name Cyclades refers to the islands forming a circle (circular islands) around the sacred island of Dilos.
Most of the smaller islands are uninhabited.
Ermoupolis, on Syros, is the capital and administrative center of the prefecture.
The islands are peaks of a submerged mountainous terrain, with the exception of two volcanic islands, Milos and Santorini. The climate is generally dry and mild, but with the exception of Naxos the soil is not very fertile; agricultural produce includes wine, fruit, wheat, olive oil, and tobacco. Cooler temperatures are in higher elevations and mainly do not receive wintry weather.
The Cyclades are bounded to the south by the Sea of Crete.

Living the ultimate dream of island hopping the Aegean Sea. Since childhood I've always wished to be in Greece. But discovering the treasures of each island is the dream of all dreams. After spending two weeks in the mainland including two Ionian island, I set off from Rafina port and set off for my first island, andros.
Without doing too much research , I left my first island for surprise. I based myself in a cheap hotel in the beautiful sea town of Batsi. Here I enjoyed nice walked in blue and white, a nice swim at a nearby beach as well as a nice sunset swim in town. Although hitchhiking was a failed attempt in the mainland, the Greek island was the exact opposite as I was picked up by a friendly group of Greeks who brought me down to Ormous Korthiou. Here I walked over to a beach I booked marked called OLD WOMAN JUMP, a beautiful beach with an iconic pilar.
Directly south is my next island, Tinos. Tinos is an interesting island as its church, our lady of Tinos has an annual pilgrimage where people crawl from the sea up to the church. But aside from that as well as the beautiful villages I discovered above Tinos, my iconic memory in Tinos was the cheap Airbnb in the village of Arnados. For 60 dollars and two nights, I had an incredible view over half of the island and other Greek islands. With a home cooked meal and local wine, I had the view of a lifetime.
Onward to my next island and the final one in this video, I made my way over to Syros, an island I remember as having the most incredible port city, Ermoupoli. It's a Venetian city with beautiful colored buildings, a maze of walkways that hugs two steep hills overlooking the harbor and beyond. Here I also managed to hitchhike to the other end of the island to have lunch with newly made friends and enjoy a swim at a local beach. Here I took a nice quiet walk to the edge of the island, and realized, I made it.
Concluding this video, I set off for Serifos to continue my Aegean Sea voyage. :) cheers

Patmos travel (Ile de Patmos), Greek island in Aegean Sea 4K
Patmos is a pretty little island of the Dodecanese archipelago in the Aegean Sea. Its ancient past is marked by the Romans who use it as a place of deportation. Thus, it is possible that in 95, the Emperor Domitian exiles the Evangelist John who writes the Apocalypse. Today, cave of the Apocalypse is a site classified in the world inheritance of humanity by UNESCO.
Cities
=====
Patmos' main communities are Chora (the capital city), and Skala, the only commercial port. Other settlements are Grikou and Kampos.
Other destinations
Patmos is one of the most religious Greek Islands because it is where Saint John the Divine had his revelation and wrote the Apocalypse.
Public buses are available throughout the day all around this small island. They run on the schedule, in the preseason approx every two hours. In 2014, the one way ride is 1,50Euros. The use of taxis is not recommended! They refuse to use the taxi meter and are inventing the fix rates from point A to point B. In case you are a tourist, they will take the long way around (remember it is a total of 14km from north to south). From Skala to Chora (capital with the monastery) they charge fixed prices which are more expensive than renting a car for the entire day. Rent a cars, scooters, bikes. - many available in Skala port, reasonable prices.

The churches and communities on Patmos are of the Eastern Orthodox tradition. In 1999, the island's historic center Chora, along with the Monastery of Saint John the Theologian and the Cave of the Apocalypse, were declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.
