Shivamogga previously known as shimoga, is a large city and the district headquarters of Shivamogga District in the central part of the state of Karnataka, India. The city lies on the banks of the Tunga River. Being the gateway for the hilly region of the Western Ghats, the city is popularly nicknamed as Gateway of Malnad. The city is 569 m above sea level and is surrounded by lush green paddy fields, arecanut and coconut groves. The population of Shimoga city is 322,428, consisting of 161,978 males and 160,450 females, as per 2011 census.

Nagara is a historic village in the Shimoga district of the state of Karnataka, India. It is 17 kilometres from Hosanagara or 84 kilometres from Shimoga. Kundadri is a hill with dense forests in the Western Ghats located in Shimoga District Karnataka State, India.It is 70 km from Udupi city. This hill is known for 17th century Jain temple dedicated to Thirthankara and the place is known to have given shelter to one Acharya Kundakunda during earlier centuries.The main deity of this temple is Parshwanatha, 23rd tirthankar. Two small ponds formed by the rock on one side of this temple provided water to earlier sages. Government of Karnataka joined hands with a philanthropist from Mumbai to construct an all-weather road to the top of the hill.
