Sholinghur (Tamil: சோளிங்கர்) is a town under Walajapet taluk in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu, India.
The town is famous in Tamil Nadu and other neighboring states for the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple. Sholinghur was once ruled by the Chola Empire, Nawabs of Arcot and Tippu Sultan.
The town of Sholinghur does not have a large recorded history to boast about. However, the town was the site of a battle during the Anglo-Mysore Wars. It was here that Sir Eyre Coote fought against Tipu Sultan and Hyder Ali in the Second Anglo-Mysore War. Near Sholinghur Bus Terminus, we can see the burial ground dedicated to the soldiers of Tipu Sultan army fought in the War..
Sholinghur has a railway station (which is about 13 km away from Sholinghur at Banavaram). Sholinghur also has a government hospital that was awarded Tamil Nadu's Best Maintenance Award for the year 2006-07.
Government and private bus operators ply buses to Vellore, Tiruttani and Arakkonam every 15 minutes. There are also regular direct bus services available to Chennai, Bengaluru and Kancheepuram from the bus station.

Marehalli Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, Marehalli, Malavalli, Karnataka tourism. Located 2 Kms away from Malavallli town.this is an ancient stone carved temple of great heritage and historic importance. the Marehalli Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy Temple is one among the prominent Narasimhaswamy Temple in Mandya District. Belonging to the Sri Vaishnava tradition. The temple is 1200 years old.
Built during the 10th century and renovated by Raja Raja chola 1st. The temple exists amidst thick greenery in an area of around 12 acres. It is believed that long ago two sages by name Suyagna and Lambakarna performed yagnas and tapasyas where the temple exists now. The lord Narasimhaswamy pleased with their devotion appeared in their dream and assured that he would reside there. The place was earlier known was Gajaranya Kshetra. The deity Narasimhaswamy swamy locally known as Marehalli Mudukappa is also known as sowmya Narasimhaswamy.
The temple complex consists of the “Amrutheshwara” temple at the entrance two mantapas on either side of the temple. Facing the main structure is the 40 feet long Garuda Gamba and Brundawana. An Anjuneyaswamy Temple at the left followed by Pathalankana and Ganesh temple are at the main entrance of the temple. The Bhoodevi and Neeladevi deities are also worshipped here. Surrounded by 108 pillars and ankanas. The Navaranga leads to the sanctun sanctorum. Of the temple called the Shukanasini Mantapa. Where the lord is seated with Goddess Lakshmi on his left lap. Prominent among the belief is that an “Amruthakalasha” lies beneath the lotus feet of Goddess Lakshmi. Which when invoked with devotion full fills all desires.
Being an old agrahara during the time of Gangas, Marehalli was known as Rajasraya Vinnagaram during the time of Rajaraja I (985-1012 AD) of the Chola dynasty. With the victory of the Hoysalas over Cholas at Talkad, the agrahara passed to them and was subsequently ruled successively by Vijayanagara, and later by the Wodeyars of Mysore, Haider Ali and Tipu Sultan in that order.
The temple built during the reign of Rajaraja Chola has on plan a garbhagriha, an antarala and a mukhamandapa in east-west orientation enclosed by a pillared prakara. In the sanctum, is enshrined an image of Lakshminarasimha. The temple subsequently was renovated and restored during the Hoysala and Vijayanagara periods. The temple has an imposing mahadvara of the typical Vijayanagara style. Another small Siva shrine is present to the north-east of the complex. Delineating Chola features, it contains an inscription on the foundation. It comprises of a garbhagriha preceded by an antarala and navaranga. Above the sanctum is a squattish Dravida vimana of brick and lime. The entrance leading from north and a pillared mandapa to the south-east are other edifices in this complex.

Varadharaja Perumal Temple - famous Hindu temple to Lord Vishnu
Varadharaja Perumal Temple or Hastagiri or Attiyuran is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu located in the holy city of Kanchipuram, Tamilnadu, India. It is one of the Divya Desams, the 108 temples of Vishnu believed to have been visited by the 12 poet saints, or Alwars. It is located in part of Kanchipuram called the Vishnu Kanchi that is a home for a lot of famous Vishnu temples, including this one. One of the greatest Hindu scholars of Vaishnava VisishtAdvaita philosophy, Ramanuja is believed to have resided in this temple.The temple along with Ekambareswarar Temple and Kamakshi Amman Temple in Kanchipuram is called Mumurtivasam or abode of trio. While Srirangam is referred to as 'The Koil' and Tirupathi as the 'Malai' among Divya Desams, Kanchipuram Varadaraja Perumal temple is known as the 'Perumal Koil'. This is one of the most sacred places for Vaishnavites.
The Temple is a huge one on a 23-acre complex and shows the architectural skills of ancient Vishwakarma Sthapathis in temple architecture and is famous for its holiness and ancient history. The temple has 3 outer precincts or prakaram namely Azhwar Prakaram, Madai Palli Prakaram and Thiru Malai Prakaram. There are 32 shrines, 19 vimanams, 389 pillared halls and sacred sacred tanks some located outside the complex. The main sanctum faces west and can be entered through a 130 feet tall, 7-tiered rajagopuram or main gateway tower. The eastern gopuram is taller than the western gopuram, which is contrasting to large temples where the rajagopuram is the tallest one. One of the most famous architectural pieces in the temple is the huge stone chain sculpted in a single stone. There is a 100 pillared hall and has sculptures depicting Ramayana and Mahabarathastands the masterpiece of Vijayanagara architecture. The significant things about the temple are the shrine of Varadarajaswamy, beautiful carved lizards and platted with gold, over the sanctum. The vimana over the sanctum of Vradaraja Swami is called Punyakoti Vimanam and the one over Perundevi Thayar shrine is called Kalyana Koti Vimanam. Apart from the main stone idol, the temple has the wooden image of Varadarajaswamy preserved within a silver box in water pumped out every 40 years. There is a shrine of Narasimha on the hillock.

In Hinduism, a kṣetra is a sacred ground, a field of active power, a place where moksha, final release can be obtained. The Garuda Purana enumerates seven cities as providers of moksha, namely Ayodhya, Mathura, Haridwar, Varanasi, Avantikā, Dvārakā and Kanchipuram.
Kanchipuram was the capital of the Pallavas rulers from the 1st to 9th centuries. It was also important during the Chola, Vijayanagar, and Nayaka periods. It was mentioned in the Mahabhasya, written by Patanjali in the 2nd century BC. The term nagareshu Kanchi in the above verse attributed the famous Sanskrit poet, Kalidasa, means that Kanchi was the best amongst the cities of medieval India. Kanchipuram is one of the oldest cities in South India, and was a city of learning for Tamil, Sanskrit, and Pali. It was during the reign of Pallava dynasty, from the 4th to the 9th centuries that Kanchipuram attained its limelight. The city served as the Pallava capital, and many of the known temples were built during their reign.

Katpadi Junction is a railway station-cum-junction in the Vellore city. It is one of the busiest and important Railway Junction in southern railway and Chennai division. The station is located on Chennai-Bangalore and Villupuram - Tirupati lines. This is one of the cleaned and well maintained railway station in southern railway and also Katpadi Jn is one of the TOP 10 Revenue Yeiling Railway Stations in Tamil Nadu. It is located at the northern end of the city on Chittor Highway connecting Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu and Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh.
The station is served by 5 platforms, of which platforms 4 and 5 primarily serve trains bound from o Vellore Cantonment & south Tamil Nadu and from and to Andhra Pradesh. It is the prestigious railway junction because chennai-bangalore shatabdi express stops here, this is the only junction shatabdi stops between chennai-bangalore. And also except mysore shatabdi and chennai-kovai non-stop duronto exp, all super fast trains stops here. Morethan 150 passenger trains passing through (Up and Down) Vellore-Katpadi Junction everyday.
Platforms 1 to 3 primarily serve trains bound to Chennai, Bangalore, Coimbatore and Kerala directions.
