Bucket List: Taking the Polar Plunge | Norway Travel Vlog

It's time to knock things off the bucket list starting with the Polar plunge.
Here in Norway, we're doing some bucket list checking. Part of this assignment with TopDeck Travel is to knock off a couple really cool things from my bucket list. In fact, they've created a series of 49 bucket list items and there are travel photographers, vloggers, and bloggers around the world right now knocking these things off. One of the bucket list items that I'm supposed to check is a polar plunge in the Arctic. And, while I've done a polar plunge in Antarctic, I've never done one in the the Arctic. In fact, just yesterday was the first time I ever even crossed the Arctic circle.
So, when we arrived in the town of Skibotn, Norway and got set up at our campsite, we immediately hit the river and found a bridge to jump off for our polar plunge.
The water here in Northern Norway is some of the coldest I've ever been in. When I did my polar plunge I lost my breath and was gasping as I made the swim to the shore. It just knocks you out. Honestly, so cold. But, I mean what was I expecting jumping in glacial water well above the Arctic Circle?
Luckily, there was a sauna to warm up in after dipping in the icy waters.
That night, I managed to convince a couple of TopDeck people to do the polar plunge again. I really wanted to get some shots of it with the light really nice. And, so at 2am they did the jump and I managed to capture the moment with a couple cool stills.
Big shout out to Jonno and Donna for braving the cold water a second time for the shot.
Tomorrow, I have another travel vlog from here in Norway as we continue northbound in search of the midnight sun and more travel firsts and bucket list items.
We take the Norway travel vlog up to the northernmost point in Europe at Nordkapp! It should be fun.
