Australia: Travels in Tasmania
Informative and entertaining travel documentary about Australia's island state of Tasmania that covers many of the outstanding scenic, wildlife and cultural aspects of this special place. Your guide, Robert Stephens, takes you to Battery Point, Rektango, Salamanca Market and MONA (Museum of Old and New Art) in Hobart. He then heads to Bruny Island to go on Bruny Island Cruise, then to the 500 acre Inala Conservation Property of Dr, Tonia Cochran. She shows the rescued wildlife in her care that includes an Albino Bennetts Wallaby, a red neck Bennetts Wallaby and a Rufous Bellied Pademelon. Dr. Cochran also talks about her work with one of Australia's rarest birds, the forty spotted Pardolote. The tour finishes on Bruny with a visit to see a wild Echidna at South Bruny Island National Park and Lighthouse, and a dusk vigil to see the the Little or Fairy Penguins at the Bruny Island Isthmus Rookery. The tour heads north to the Midlands towns of Ross and Oatlands, and then on Launceston and Tasmania Zoo to see Tasmanian Devils up close. As the video closes, Robert heads to the Freycinet Peninsula to see Wineglass Bay. Montezuma Falls 4wd track / Waterfalls of Tasmania
On the west coast of Tasmania is Montezuma Falls.
There is a walk in option (3hrs return) or a 4wd track.
The track follows the old North East Dundas Tramway (closed in 1932) through rainforest to the spectacular Montezuma Falls, at 104m one of the highest waterfalls in Tasmania.
From Zeehan, take the B27 for approximately 5 km to the Murchison Highway and turn left (north). Another 5 km on is the Melba Flats railway siding turn right here onto the 4WD track. It is approximately 14 kms to the carpark and a few hundred metres walk to the falls across a suspension bridge.
There were loads of washouts, followed by more and more deeper puddles and small creek crossings. There were a few technical spots and one very off camber section but all in all not a difficult drive at all.
The Montezuma Falls were beautiful. There is a thin steel sway-bridge across the gorge and gives an awesome view of the drop! We spent about 10 mins there having a chat and taking some photos before returning to the 4wds to head back.
There is also an alternate route out through the Ring River track that comes out near Renison Bell. This track is graded hard and should not be attempted when there is a high rainfall or if you are travelling alone. The sign states “ 'Extreme Grade 4wd Track Only. A minimum of two well equipped 4wds, and dangerous, possible life threatening river crossings, impassable in heavy rain. Unfortunately we did not get a chance to try this track on our visit as it was very late in the afternoon and we were in a convoy of cars where we decided it best to take the same way out as we came in.
The return trip was a lot faster than on the way, I guess we felt more comfortable on the tracks and were more familiar with the terrain! On the way to the falls with all the stops etc., we ticked over 2.5 hours and saved a heap of time on the way back!

What's a #Photowalk?
Newport Beach #Photowalk blog post:
The #Photowalks series is all about bringing viewers to cool places in the Southern California (and elsewhere) area in search of the best photo spots to light up your social media, and to show how, when and where to get them.
Past #Photowalk episodes include visits to Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Balboa Island, the Griffith Observatory and Venice Beach. We went outside the area to trek to Pismo Beach, a road trip from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, Tokyo and Kauai.
