Surat is a large city beside the Tapi River in the west Indian state of Gujarat. Once known for silk weaving, Surat remains a commercial center for textiles, and the New Textile Market area is lined with fabric shops. Overlooking the river, Surat Castle was built in the 1500s to defend the city against Portuguese colonists. Nearby, the Dutch, Armenian and English cemeteries contain elaborate colonial-era tombs.

1. Dumas Beach :
Dumas Beach is an urban beach along the Arabian Sea located 21 kilometres (13 mi) southwest of Surat City. This beach is famous for its black sand. It is a popular tourist destination in south Gujarat. Apart from the beach, places of interest at Dumas including the Dariya Ganesh Temple located adjacent to the main beach.
2. Swami Narayan Temple :
Swaminarayan temple is one of the popular religious spot in Surat. Swaminarayan temple belongs to the Swaminarayan Sect of Vaishnavism, wherein Swaminarayan or Sahajanand Swami is believed to be the incarnation of Narayana of Nara-Narayana.
3. Jagdish Chandra Bose Aquarium :
Jagdish Chandra Bose Aquarium (or the Surat Aquarium) is located in the Pal region of Surat and is considered one of the best tourist attractions of Surat. With more than 100 species of aquatic creatures, the Surat Aquarium presents the overwhelming beauty of underwater life in 52 specially created tanks, each having its own natural ecosystem.
4. Surat Castle :
The Surat castle is one of the ancient monuments of 16th century existing in the city and bears a significant relevance to its history. However, such a great fortification built to provide the citizens of Surat with an adequate defence against the attacks of the invaders seems to have been forgotten from the minds of the present generation.
5. Science Centre :
Science Centre forms the main part of the entire complex; it displays thematic galleries in the field of Science and Technology. The ground floor of Science Centre showcases 3D Theater, first floor of Science Centre showcases Fun Science Exhibits and second floor of Science Centre showcases Diamond Gallery where as Entering into Space, Textile gallery, Power of Play, Cosmos Gallery and Polar Science Gallery are under development.
6. Sardar Patel Museum :
The Sardar Patel Museum in Surat is a multipurpose museum which is located in Sonifalia. It plays host to several pieces of antiques such as that made of wood, metal, ivory, stone, sandalwood, porcelain and terracotta. Several old oil paintings, miniatures, textiles, manuscripts and many such other items are also displayed in the exhibition organized by this museum.
7. ISKCON Temple :
Iskcon temple, locally known as Shri Shri Radha Damodar Mandir, has been founded by the Iskcon foundation in 1978. Its construction was preceded by the visit of Shrila Prabhupada, Iskcon’s founder Acharya, in 1970.
8. Dutch Cemetery :
Archaeologists have uncovered an underground burial chamber of one of the ancient mausoleums at the Dutch cemetery at Katargam. This is the second discovery of the burial chamber at the cemetery here, after the tomb of Baron Adrian Van Reede, who was the director of the Dutch company in the Indies.
9. Gavier Lake :
Gavier Lake is a wetland located on Dumas Road, at a distance of around 7 kms from the city of Surat. It is a bird watching site conserved by the Nature Club of Surat. Gavier Lake is a fresh water lake home to a wide variety of plants and birds. It recieves water from the Kakrapar Dam through a canal and by rain.
10. Sarthana National Park :
Sarthana National Park is located in a very good area and is just about 7.7 km from Surat Railway Station via Varachha Flyway and Surat - Kamrej Highway.

Bhrigu Rishi Temple. The temple of Bhrigu Rishi, one of the famous and sacred temples of Gujarat, is situated on the east of the city in Dandia Bazar area on the banks of the holy river Narmada. This temple, being visited by a number of pilgrims, has great religious importance to the people of Bharuch. Bharuch which was originally called 'Bhrigukachchha' derived its name from this temple. The temple was built in honour of the great saint Maharishi Bhrigu who was able to attain sainthood by reaching the perfect balance between wisdom and activity. It was here that Bhrigu Rishi wrote first Indian Astrological work, Bhrigu Samhita. He is said to have documented five million horoscopes, in which he wrote down the fate of every being in the universe.[17]
Nav Nathas. There are nine Swayambhu(self menifested) Shivalingas located at different places in old Bharuch city. These Shivalingas are known as Nav Naths in Bharuch. They are Kamnath, Jwalnath, Somnath, Bhimnath, Gangnath, Bhootnath, Pingalnath, Siddhnath and Kashi Vishwanath. These nine shivlingas are said to be exist since time immemorial. It was due to these shivlingas that Bhrigu Rishi choose Bharuch for his ashram.
Dashashwamedh Ghat is situated on the bank of river Narmada near Dandia Bazar. This is the place where King Mahabaliperformed ten ashwamedha sacrifices. It is at this place where Lord Vishnu came in the disguise of Vamana and measured the whole universe with his three steps. There are many old temples constructed on this ghat which includes Ambaji Mata Temple, Umiya Mata Temple, Narmada Mata Temple, Kotirudreshwar Mahadev, Vamana Temple and many others. One must not forget to visit this ghat at early morning hours to enjoy the spiritual peace of this place.
River Narmada. Many ghats are situated on the banks of the River Narmada in Bharuch, which hosts a number of temples. The Narmada happens to be one of the most sacred river of India. It is believed that a dip in the Narmada river washes ones sins away, and that her divine sight alone makes one pure. According to a legend, the river Ganges is polluted by millions of people bathing in it. To cleanse herself, Ganges acquires the form of a black cow and comes to the Narmada to bathe in its holy waters. Legends also mention that the Narmada River is older than the river Ganges.
Temples swarm the city and each holds its own religious significance. The Swaminarayan Temple in Dandia Bazar area of city is 175 years old and hosts a palette of colour on its walls. Narmada Mata Temple, also in Dandia Bazar, is 150 years old and dedicated to Goddess Narmada. The Vaishnav Haveli enshrines an idol of Bal Krishna said to have come from Mathura in 1725. Behind the old Civil Hospital, the Khodiyar Mata Temple overlooks the low-lying area of furja and offers one of the best views of sunset in the city.[17]
Other temples in old Bharuch city include Bahuchara Mata Temple, Sindhvai Mata Temple, Santoshi Mata Temple, Nilkanth Mahadev, Doodheshwar Madhavev, Nav Graha Temple, Kala Raam Temple, Dwarkadhish Temple, Dattatreya Temple, Bhrigvishwar Mahadev, seat of Vallabhacharya, Gyaneshwar Hanuman, Rokadiya Hanuman, Bhid Bhanjan Hanuman, Ganapati Temple and many others.
There are many ashramas along the river side. Some of these ashrams also runs meditation centres, adhyatama discourses, etc. A few prominent ashramas to name are Ashoka Ashrama, Swami Omkarnath’s Narmada Ashrama, Kusuma Pagala Ashrama, Swami Swyamjyotitirtha’s Gyan Sadhan Ashrama, Vishwa Gayatri Alakha Dham, Brahmakumari’s Anubhuti Dham, Swami Tadrupananda’s Manan Ashrama, Hansdevji’s Hans Ashramas, etc.
Shree Vishnu Ayyapa Temple lies on the Zadeshwar Road and is managed by the Hindu Kerala Community residing in Bharuch. Every Year during the end of December a beautiful procession is carried out to commensurate the pious Mandalamaasam where devotees across the district and nearby vicinity participate and celebrate.
The Golden Bridge was built by the British in 1881 across the Narmada River to improve access to traders and administrators to Bombay. The structure was built with rust-resistant iron, and therefore, more expensive than modern steel, lending to the name Golden Bridge. This bridge connects Bharuch and Ankleshwar.

A fort which is around 1000 years old was built by Siddhraj Jaysinh, the then king of Gujarat. The fort is situated on a hill top which overlooks the Narmada river. Within the fort are the Collector's office, Civil Courts, the Old Dutch factory, a church, the Victoria Clock tower and other buildings. Around 3 km (1.9 mi) from the fort there are some early Dutch tombs, overlooked by some Parsee Towers of Silence. Also there are many historical monuments built by the Dutch, Portuguese and British.[citation needed]

Gaumukh near Songadh
Gaumukh is located on Gujarat-maharastra boarder.It is 13 km far from songadh. Small waterfall runs mostly monsoon n post monsoon till diwali. some one say name of river is GuptGanga.
Small temple of shiv and continuous water flow from mouth of cow so called as gaomukh. To reach water fall take stair and you reach waterfall.
Kusmal Waterfall -A Day Tracking in Dang Gujarat- (near Bhenshkatri)
Waterfall in video is near kusmal village which is 28 kilometres from bhenshkatri. This kusmal waterfall is among one of highest and beautiful watrefall in dang. Best time to visit this place is july to November. Also the way from kusml village to waterfall is bit difficult. Distance from surat railway station to kusmal waterfall is around 130 kms. Kevdi , Eco tourism site
Jetpur Kevdi is a eco tourism campsite situated near Mandvi, Surat. Kevdi is 20 km from Mandvi.Kevdi campsite is open all days a week. No prior permission needed to visit, however for AC type of accommodation, prior booking is must.

Junaraj a beautiful place near Rajpipla
Gujarat Forest Department Eco Tourism Spot JunaRaj is near the Karjan dam near Rajpipla. It is a one hour drive from Rajpipla. Junaraj is also a old capital of Rajpipla kingdom. It is a village in Narmada district and a serene place. It is very good place for a day picnic. Facilities for staying is also available. There are camps to stay there. It is a beautiful place sourrounding by hills and nice place for boating. The ruins of old walls, temples etc can be seen there.

Finally i am back on track on what i started back in 2013 and had to stop due to some personal reasons.
Here is the part one of the places to visit during monsoon in Tapi
and Dangs. Most of the places are like heaven on the region and must visit. If you ever coming to this side of the gujarat , take some time and go visit these places. Most of them are close to the highways and easy to find out.
