Sophia aka Sofia, is the largest city in Bulgaria and home to some amazing buildings, history and attractions. The city center is the best place to start on your sightseeing hunt and covers a good amount of the best things to do and what to see in Sofia.
Bulgarian food is incredible, but our priority was the traditional Bulgarian breakfast for the purpose of this vlog! Bulgaria has some delicious cuisine, but any country that eats dessert for breakfast is high on our list of things we have to try! Mekitsa in Sofia was a must taste! They call it food, we call it dessert :)
Bulgaria is an easy place to make a travel vlog, city centers like in Sophia make our job easy with deciding what to see. For the most part, the city offers incredible buildings, churches, ancient ruins and age old structures. To really tackle the larger things to do in Sofia you probably need to get out of the city and venture deeper into Bulgaria as a whole. In upcoming travel vlogs we'll also show the other main attractions a few hours away, known as top sightseeing stops, to add some contrast to the concrete of the city along with more food where we can.

Our first day exploring Bulgaria and we're blown away. Plovdiv is our base for now and we'd first heard about this place from some Digital Nomad friends. After discovering the Roman history, Ancient Theatre and Ancient Stadium of Philipopolis in todays travel vlog we can understand why!
Plovdiv has an appeal thats difficult to put into words, but its safe to say our first taste of Bulgaria has surprised us in the best way possible.
The Ancient Roman Stadium of Philipopolis is under the walking street of Plovdiv, something you sort of have to see to believe. For now, the vlog will have to do! Theres also a crazy Ancient Theatre that was unknown for hundreds of years!
As digital nomads ourselves, we may find ourselves coming back to Bulgaria and spending more time in Plovdiv!

Today we travel from Athens to Mykonos on a Greek ferry, Hellenic Seaways. Ferries in Greece are common to reach the islands but...⬇ Click 'Show More' ⬇
We're leaving Athens and bound for Mykonos, heading over on a Hellenic Seaways ferry to see what the experience on those Greek ferries is all about! We struggled to find any travel vlogs on the ferry process, costs, timings and experience online so decided we'd pick up the camera and create our own vlog as we jumped on the ferry in Athens.
Hellenic Seaways in 2018 was a decent ferry, price was reasonable to purchase the ticket but the food on board was ridiculous, the costs were silly over priced. Paying for seats on the ferry seems like the best option, the other guests were stuck on the outside and mega uncomfortable.
Check back for our next Mykonos video! But for now, our review on the Greek ferry experience was pretty decent - travel was easy and for the most part the trip was painless.

Welcome to Sofia, Bulgaria: The Moderately Priced Hotel Budapest
The Explore tour of Ancient Macedonia would begin in Sofia, Bulgaria with one night at Hotel Budapest. Marine Steve and I booked an extra night and arrived a day before the tour actually began.
Hotel Budapest rates made me apprehensive. How good could a hotel be that had a $68 rate for double room, en suite facilities, buffet breakfast, service and taxes? Rather than looking for another hotel, we just went with the flow. Surprise, surprise, surprise! Breakfast was huge; Hotel Budapest had contemporary decor, free Wi-Fi, clean rooms and a 15 minute walk to all of Sofia's important sights.

A Santorini wedding was always a dream for Sam, so when we were told it was a Greek Island wedding we were stoked! Greece is a stunning country and the villas we've stayed in have been even more amazing, not to mention the pools... ahhh the private pools!

Our first day exploring Bucharest and we head to the old town - the city center of the Romania capital - to get a feel for what it's like to travel here. The old town is understandably touristy, as any city center like that is, but was an awesome place to walk around and vlog.

Krakow is an awesome place that we highly recommend you make part of your trip when visiting Europe. Day to day costs are great in Poland if you're not in the main tourist spots, so the monthly costs for a digital nomad are pretty competitive!

My (Dane's) family are originally from Czechoslovakia, which then split into Czech Republic and Slovakia. After working through our ancestors history and family tree we traced back a location called Frenstat pod Radhostem where they lived. This vlog is us on a travel mission from Prague!
We made our way to visit Frenstat pod Radhostem and hunted down the small village center before finding my ancestors house from the 1700's!
