RMS St Helena Farewell from St Helena February 2018
This Video is an informal record of the events between 1st & 10th February 2018 when the last remaining Royal Mail Ship to actually carry the Royal Mail departed for on her last scheduled voyages to Ascension and Cape Town from Saint Helena.
The video's target audience is all those Saints and Adopted Saints that could not be on Island to see these historic events and is shot as if you were stood there with no tripod (Too heavy for the 20kg on the flights to St Helena), so please bear this in mind when viewing
There is no fancy music or commentary - just a few captions to indicate key events.
For those on St Helena I have left a copy of the Video at the Saint FM Studio by kind permission of Tammy Williams where can copy the File - You will need a USB stick with at least 3.2GB space on it.
Update: February 2019:
The RMS was sold shortly after withdrawal to MHG and acted as a Armoury ship to anti piracy operations in the Indian Ocean until October 2018 as the MNG Tahiti . She was then sold to a new group and renamed St. Helena and she returned to Portland (UK) that month for a 2 year refit. It was announced at a launch aboard the St. Helena in the Pool of London on 31st January 2019 that there will be a new type of motorsport starting in January 2021 called Extreme E where the St. Helena will be the Mobile paddock and home for this exciting new eco friendly series. A great upcycling of this Iconic ship See these videos: and
