Inside St Michael's Mount, Penzance CORNWALL
Join us as we explore St Michael's Mount, a castle perched on a granite island, just off the Cornish coast near Penzance. The Mount is approached by a granite causeway that is covered for part of the day by the sea.
We use a 1920s tourist guide by Wardlock and Co. to guide us around the castle. St Michaels' Mount is surrounded by not only sea but myth and legend - our guide mentions a skeleton behind a hidden door in the chapel!

Newquay City Travel Guide and Site Scenes
Newquay is a town, civil parish, seaside resort and fishing port on the north Atlantic coast of Cornwall, Great Britain. It is bounded to the west by the River Gannel and its associated salt marsh, and in the east by the Porth Valley.
Bedruthan Steps
Bedruthan Steps beach has to be another breathtaking view to see as you walk over the hill from the carpark to see the beach. There are 120 steep steps down to the beach which can be a challenge to walk up and down. The beach gets its name from the outcrops scattered along the beach and not the inordinate number of steps you need to go down to get to the beach. It is said that the outcrops were put there by Bedruthan, a giant, and used as stepping stones.
At low tide the beach itself stretches for over a mile with plenty of interesting nooks and crannies.
As the numerous warning signs point out the cliffs are dangerous as are the tides and there is a good deal of potential to become cut off at high tide
Nearby are Carnewas cliffs owned by the National Trust with a cafe and toilets. Looking West from here you get a good view of Newquay bay.
More information on the beach:
There are two car parks (one is National Trust owned)
There are toilets and a cafe in the National Trust car park
The beach is dog friendly all year round
There are fantastic walks along the beach on the cliff coast path
