The Tjörn Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge which together with two smaller bridges connects Stenungsund on mainland Sweden with the island Tjörn on the western coast of the country. The length is 664 m , the span width is 366 m , and the height above the water is 45 m . Inaugurated in 1981, the bridge was built in record time after its predecessor, the Almö Bridge, which was inaugurated in June 1960, collapsed after the bulk carrier MS Star Clipper collided with its span at 1:30 AM on 18 January 1980 in fog and darkness. Eight people died in 7 vehicles that plunged into the sea before the bridge was closed.

The Göta Canal is a Swedish canal constructed in the early 19th century. It formed the backbone of a waterway stretching some 614 km , linking a number of lakes and rivers to provide a route from Gothenburg on the west coast to Söderköping on the Baltic Sea via the river Göta älv and the Trollhätte kanal, through the large lakes Vänern and Vättern. The canal itself is 190 km long, of which 87 km were dug or blasted, with a width varying between 7–14 m and a maximum depth of about 3 m . It has 58 locks and can accommodate vessels up to 32 m long, 7 m wide and 2.8 m in draft. Göta Canal is a sister canal of Caledonian Canal in Scotland, which was also constructed by Thomas Telford.

Läckö Castle is a medieval castle in Sweden, located on Kållandsö island on Lake Vanern, 25 kilometers north of Lidköping in Västergötland. Angels City - konstglasutställning med Kjell Engman i Stenungsund 2013

Kjell Engman är en outtröttlig glaskonstnär med gränslös fantasi och berättarglädje som bl a hämtar inspiration från djurriket och musikens värld. Kjell arbetar ofta med större installationer där han även använder sig av element som ljud och ljus. 21 september till 20 oktober 2013 anordnades en helt magisk utställning, Angels City, djupt inne i Vattenfalls bergrum i Stenungsund. Även mästersmeden, Berth Johansson medverkade denna gång. Utställningen blev en stor succé och hade över 28.000 besökare! Här några filmklipp från utställningen.

Approximately 200 pictures from the 3 weeks i spent in Northern Europe (mainly Sweden) on a bicycle. Best vacation ever !
Music by Rachmaninov: second piano concerto, first movement, played by M.A. Hamelin. The first chords are the sounds that , i really don't know why, I kept hearing every time I resumed my march and started bicycling: those chords were the soundtrack of those wonderful weeks.

Only Sea Beach in Gothenburg

This is the only Sea Beach in Gothenburg (sweden). Water is very clean, Very cold and very calm like lake. It has little sand and looks like it has been brought from river :)
