Places to see in ( Sudbury - UK )
Sudbury is a small market town in the English county of Suffolk. Sudbury is located on the River Stour near the Essex border, and is 60 miles north-east of London. Sudbury is the largest town of Babergh district council, the local government district, and is represented in the UK Parliament as part of the South Suffolk constituency.
Evidence of Sudbury as a settlement originates from the end of the 8th century during the Anglo-Saxon era, and its market was established in the early 11th century. Its textile industries prospered during the Late Middle Ages; the wealth of which funded many of its buildings and churches. The town became notable for its art in the 18th century, being the birthplace of Thomas Gainsborough, whose landscapes offered inspiration to John Constable, another Suffolk painter of the surrounding Stour Valley area. The 19th century saw the arrival of the railway with the opening of a station on the historic Stour Valley Railway, and Sudbury railway station forms the current terminus of the Gainsborough Line. During World War II, US Army Airforce bombers operated from RAF Sudbury.
Today, Sudbury retains its status as a market town with a twice-weekly market in the town centre in front of the redundant St Peter's Church, which is now a local community point for events such as concerts and exhibitions. In sport, the town has a semi-professional football club, A.F.C. Sudbury, which competes at the seventh level of the football pyramid.
Once a busy and important river port the last industrial building on the riverside in Sudbury has been converted into the town's only theatre, the Quay Theatre. The River Stour Trust, formed in 1968, has its headquarters in Sudbury, and a purpose built visitor centre located at Cornard Lock. The trust operates electric-powered boats from the Granary in Quay Lane, to Great Henny, a few miles downstream. Each September, the 24 mi (39 km) stretch of the River Stour hosts hundreds of canoe and small boat enthusiasts in a weekend event called Sudbury to the Sea, which finishes at Cattawade.
By road, Sudbury is served by the A131 which runs from near Little Waltham, north of Chelmsford in Essex, and the A134 which runs from Colchester in Essex, The railway arrived in Sudbury in 1847 when Sudbury railway station was built on the Stour Valley Railway. The town escaped the Beeching Axe of the 1960s and maintained its rail link with London.

Places to see in ( Newmarket - UK )
Newmarket is a market town in the English county of Suffolk, approximately 65 miles north of London. Newmarket is generally considered the birthplace and global centre of thoroughbred horse racing and a potential World Heritage Site.
Newmarket is a major local business cluster, with annual investment rivalling that of the Cambridge Science Park, the other major cluster in the region. Newmarket is the largest racehorse training centre in Britain, the largest racehorse breeding centre in the country, home to most major British horseracing institutions, and a key global centre for horse health. Two Classic races, and an additional three British Champions Series races are held at Newmarket every year.
Newmarket has been a centre for British royalty since James I, and was also a home to Charles I, Charles II and many monarchs since. The current monarch, Queen Elizabeth, regularly visits the town to see her horses in training.
Newmarket has over fifty horse training stables, two large racetracks, The Rowley Mile and The July Course and one of the most extensive and prestigious horse training grounds in the world.
Newmarket is home to over 3,500 racehorses, and it is estimated that one in every three local jobs is related to horse racing. Newmarket is home to Palace House, the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing and Sporting Art, the National Horseracing Museum, Tattersalls the racehorse auctioneers, and two of the world's foremost equine hospitals for horse health. Newmarket is surrounded by over sixty horse breeding studs. On account of its leading position in the multibillion-pound horse racing and breeding industry, it is also a major export centre.
Racing at Newmarket has been dated as far back as 1174, making it the earliest known racing venue of post-classical times. King James I (reigned 1603–1625) greatly increased the popularity of horse racing there, and King Charles I followed this by inaugurating the first cup race in 1634. The Jockey Club's clubhouse is in Newmarket, though its administration is based in London.
Newmarket railway station is on the Cambridge - Bury St. Edmunds - Ipswich rail line, formerly belonging to the Great Eastern Railway (later part of the LNER). Newmarket's first railway was a line built by the Newmarket and Chesterford Railway and opened in 1848 (known as the Newmarket Railway). It branched off the London - Cambridge main line at Great Chesterford and ran about 15 miles (24 km) north eastwards. There was an attractive terminus in Newmarket, with intermediate stations at Bourne Bridge, Balsham Road and Six Mile Bottom.

There's a TORNADO outside my house in Suffolk, Virginia!
HOLY CRAP! This happened right in front me! I know this incident is just a little pinch compared to the other locations where the tornado touched down..
It was really cool to also see in person how the tornado clouds circulated right above me..
I've only lived for about a month in my new place, and i was deathly scared that it was going to go through it. By instinct, the best thing we did was drive away from the area, but we turned around because we thought we were going 'into' the storm, so we drove the other way around, but to find out that the damage had already occurred! And thankfully it was a small amount.. and thank God that he spared the homes in my area.
Happened on Monday, April 28, 2008 at 4:27pm ET.
Tornado Touchdown Locations:
-Suffolk
-Claremont
-Colonial Heights
