Sumatra is an elongated landmass spanning a diagonal northwest-southeast axis. The Indian Ocean borders the west, northwest, and southwest coasts of Sumatra with the island chain of Simeulue, Nias and Mentawai off the western coast. In the northeast the narrow Strait of Malacca separates the island from the Malay Peninsula, which is an extension of the Eurasian continent.     Teluk Bayur formerly known as Emma Haven or Emmahaven is a port located in Bayur Bay of Padang city, West Sumatra, Indonesia. The port, the largest and busiest on the western coast of Sumatra, is operated by the government owned company PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II . Built in 1888 by Netherlands colonial government, on April 29, 2013 a new container terminal is officially opened by West Sumatra Governor and can serve more than 4,000 containers in 46,886 square-meter area.
