Charleston is the oldest and second-largest city in the U.S. state of South Carolina, the county seat of Charleston County,[3] and the principal city in the Charleston–North Charleston–Summerville Metropolitan Statistical Area.[4] The city lies just south of the geographical midpoint of South Carolina's coastline and is located on Charleston Harbor, an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean formed by the confluence of the Ashley and Cooper rivers, or, as is locally expressed, where the Cooper and Ashley Rivers come together to form the Atlantic Ocean.
Founded in 1670 as Charles Town in honor of King Charles II of England, Charleston adopted its present name in 1783.[5] It moved to its present location on Oyster Point in 1680 from a location on the west bank of the Ashley River known as Albemarle Point. By 1690, Charles Town was the fifth-largest city in North America,[6] and it remained among the ten largest cities in the United States through the 1840 census.[7] With a 2010 census population of 120,083[8] (and a 2014 estimate of 130,113), current trends put Charleston as the fastest-growing municipality in South Carolina. The population of the Charleston Metropolitan area, comprising Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester counties, was counted by the 2014 estimate at 727,689 – the third largest in the state – and the 78th-largest metropolitan statistical area in the United States.
Known for its rich history, well-preserved architecture, distinguished restaurants, and mannerly people, Charleston has received a large number of accolades, including America's Most Friendly [City] by Travel + Leisure in 2011 and in 2013 and 2014 by Condé Nast Traveler,[9][10] and also the most polite and hospitable city in America by Southern Living magazine. Affordable Charleston Vacation Rental 15 Minutes to Downtown or Folly Beach
This home is located almost exactly in between Downtown Charleston and Folly beach, roughly a 10 minute drive either way!!! This modern home is well decorated, very cozy & super clean. We have good Hi Speed Wifi, a good Cable TV package, Apple TV & Chromcast on a 55 TV in the Living Room. The home is professionally cleaned after every guest with plenty of fresh towels & linens changed out every time. The kitchen is well appointed with plenty of cookware and lots of caffeine options, I provide coffee filters, basic coffee & tea choices as well as many other sundries items like tin foil & cooking spices. The fridge has filtered water & an ice maker. The home also has a washer/dryer, iron & board & hair dryer too. Outside is a nice size yard with a big table & umbrella as well as a nice gas grill that I keep clean and always have an extra gas tank ready. This is a great place to stay at on a budget & be able to easily hit the Beach or enjoy Historic Charleston with out breaking the bank!!! You can easily drive to all the best spots in Charleston in 10 minutes or you can take an UBER to downtown or the beach for around $10, Charleston is VERY good with UBER, LYFT & lots of cabs. The master bedroom has a Temperpedic King size mattress, the 2nd bedroom has a nice Queen and the 3rd bed room has a big Bunk Bed with a Full on Top and Queen on the bottom. The couch is also comfy enough to crash on and I do have a nice Queen size blow up mattress with the pump built in just encase you need some extra sleep options. I say this home can sleep 7 but keep in mid that is a max and means some one is hitting the couch or kids are pilling up on the bunk bed. I personally think its ideal for 2 adult couples and 3 or 4 kids. The price is $99 a night on weeknights, $165 on weekends, $675 a week or $2400 monthly.
