#128 - Serbia, Inđija area - From Inđija to Belgrade (07/2014)

This was supposed to be just an uneventful, boring ride back home through dull villages. And while the road is indeed flat and straight, it's anything but dull! Yes, the road is quite busy, connecting two largest cities in Serbia (Belgrade and Novi Sad), which makes it exhausting to ride. But... The villages are actually real, urbanized towns of Stara and Nova Pazova. Each with about 20,000 people, they are developed, tempting and beautiful. So much more than I ever expected.

And yet, the real wow of the ride is the incredible scenery. Vast fields are constantly replaced by rows upon rows of beautiful old trees, towering on both sides of the road. Plus, there's even a long stretch of a bike/pedestrian path, connecting Stara and Nova Pazova, a great example of how things should be done. In many ways, the villages I thought I would encounter put Belgrade to shame.

So this is a great ride that I will remember by much more than just breaking my one-day ride record with exactly 180 km. Though, you really need to be mindful of the traffic.

Special greeting goes to those special people who don't lie to their friends, at least without a very good reason. We all tell lies now and then, but when doing so, we also need to think about how it will make our friends feel and whether we're really friends if we just lie. So, everybody lies is not the same as lie to everybody.

#100 - Golubac, Serbia - Đerdap Tour 4/4 (08/2013)

All good things come to end and so does the best ride of Season 2013! And what an end. A long, long slight, almost flat descent through the valley, surrounded by forest, on a magnificent terrain, with no rocks and all the space you need. With constant breathtaking scenery and virtually all alone. Choosing the riding style you prefer. Absolutely amazing. The best riding part of the entire Đerdap Tour. This one is really for the soul.

But still nothing can prepare you for the beauty of Dobra village and the Danube. You just won't believe the sight. And after a short break that you won't even notice, I'll take you along the Danube, into the sunset, for a memorable experience. Even better, the road is part of Euro Velo 6 cycling route, so the drivers are used to cyclists. Very highly recommended for a visit.

Special greeting goes to people who log and upload/share their treks so other can discover and enjoy the beauty, but also the adrenaline. We did miss a bit the original trek we were supposed to follow, but it was great to have some idea of where to go and what to expect. Sadly, I do not have the hardware needed to log my own rides, but some day...
