Sutrio is a comune in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 120 kilometres northwest of Trieste and about 60 kilometres northwest of Udine. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,392 and an area of 21.1 square kilometres .The municipality of Sutrio contains the frazioni Nojaris and Priola. Sutrio borders the following municipalities: Arta Terme, Cercivento, Lauco, Ovaro, Paluzza, Ravascletto, Zuglio.

  • 1. Monte Zoncolan Sutrio
    Monte Zoncolan is a mountain in the Carnic Alps, located in the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy, with an elevation of 1,750 metres . It is one of the most demanding climbs in professional road bicycle racing, having been used in the Giro d'Italia six times and the Giro d'Italia Femminile twice . Gilberto Simoni was the winner of the first two stages finishing on Monte Zoncolan in the men's Giro while Ivan Basso won in 2010, Igor Antón won in 2011, Michael Rogers won in 2014 and Fabiana Luperini won at the first visit in the women's race. Chris Froome won the stage in 2018 Giro d'Italia . The mountain also holds the ski resort of Ravascletto with 22 km of slopes and a skiable height between 950 and 2000 m.

    Grotta Gigante , also known as Riesengrotte or as Grotta di Brisciachi, is a giant cave on the Italian side of the Trieste Karst , close to the village of Borgo Grotta Gigante or Briščiki in the municipality of Sgonico. Its central cavern is 107 m high, 65 m wide and 130 m long, putting it in the 1995 Guinness Book of Records as the world's largest tourist cave. This record was broken in 2010 when La Verna cave in the south west of France was opened to tourists, measuring 255 by 225 by 195 metres .
