Terebovlia is a small city in the Ternopil Oblast of western Ukraine, and the administrative center of the Terebovlya Raion . It is an ancient settlement that traces its roots to the settlement of Terebovl which existed in Kievan Rus. The name may also be variously transliterated as Terebovlya / Terebovla / Terebovlja.The population as of the 2001 census was 13,661; in 2012 there were 13,796 residents. In 1913 the city counted 10,000 residents, of which 4,000 were Poles, 3,200 were Rusyns and 2,800 were Jews. In 1929 there were 7,015 people, mostly Polish, Ukrainian and Jewish.
