Nagapattinam is a base for heritage and historic points like Nagore, Velankanni, Sikkal, Kodiyakkarai, Vedaranyam, Mannargudi and Tharangambadi.
Nagore Durgha, a 16th-century minaret located in Nagore, is one of the important pilgrimage centres of the town. Kanduri festival is a 14-day event celebrated for the annual urs(anniversary) of the saint Hajrath Shahul Hamid (1490–1579 CE), in honor of whom the minaret was built. The festival is celebrated in commemoration of the anniversary of the saint's death, and pilgrims from various religions participate in the rituals and rites. The festival is also seen as a sacred exchange between Hindus and Muslims expressing solidarity of mixed faith in the region. It is believed that 60 percent of the shrines were built by Hindus and historically the minaret garners many domestic and international visitors. There are three other prominent mosques; one near Nagai Pudhur Road, one near the new bus stand, and another at Moolakadai Street.
[Kayarohanaswami Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva. The temple has been in existence from the 6th century CE and has been reverred by the verses of Tevaram, the 7th–8th century Saiva canonical work by Appar, Campantar and Sundarar.The temple is one of the seven temples of the Thyagaraja cult, classified as Saptha Vidangam, where the presiding deity Thyagaraja is believed to portray different dance styles The temple is also known for the shrine of Neelayadakshi, the consort of Kayarohanaswami.
Soundararajaperumal Temple is a Hindu temple in the town dedicated to Vishnu. It is one of the Divya Desams, the 108 temples of Vishnu revered in Nalayira Divya Prabandham by Thirumangai Azhwar, one of the 12 poet saints called Azhwars belonging to the 6th–9th century.] Nagapattinam is base to some of the prominent Hindu temples like Sikkal Singaravelan Temple at Sikkal, .
Velankanni is a pilgrimage centre located 10 km (6.2 mi) from Nagapattinam. The town is known for the Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health, a Roman Catholic church built during the 17th century. Pilgrimage to the basilica is common during September when people of many faiths, especially Hindus, Muslims and Christians of all denominations visit the basilica

A Trip to Tranquebar | Tharangambadi | Fort Dansborg and other landmarks | Travel with Soudip
Tharangambadi formally tranqueber is in today's Nagapattinam district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.you can only imagine the beauty of the place from its poetic name
Tharangambadi means land of the singing waves. Perhaps it was the sound of this singing waves which made the Danish build a massive Fort here so big was this Fort call Dansborg that it was only the second to the largest danish fort ever built in the history of Denmark
however the Danish East India company was not a financial success as a Danish Government and merchant had hoped it would be. of the 18 ships that Departed from Denmark between 1622 and 1637 only 7 returned. also the geographical location of the trunk river make it vulnerable to high tidal waves which keep destroying the buildings in the colony.
Tranquebar is 7 Km away from the port city of karaikal. You can reach Tranquebar through Nagapattinam and Pondicherry also.
Itenerary:
Take a train from Chennai/ Bangalore/ Trichy to Karaikal
Go to the Karaikal bus stand where you can get several Public or private buses.
Get down at Tharangambadi stop and you need to walk half a kilometer to Fort Dansborg.
While walking down the street, check for the map that i have given in my video to visit important landmarks like New Jerusalem Church, Zion Church, First printing press in tamilnadu,, Governor house Sivan temple and so on.
Don't forget to give a visit to Bunglow on the beach. You will get many food varieties and liquor too.

State Highway 49, also known as East Coast Road (ECR), is a two-lane highway in Tamil Nadu, India, built along the coast of the Bay of Bengal, Bay of Bengal connecting Tamil Nadu's state capital city Chennai with Cuddalore via Pondicherry. The East Coast Road has been extended up to Kanyakumari via Chidambaram, Sirkali, Akkur, Tharangambadi, Karaikal, Nagore, Nagapattinam, Thiruthuraipoondi, Muthupet, Adirampattinam, Manora, Manamelkudi, Mimisal, Ramanathapuram, Koodankulam, Tuticorin. The total length of the road is about 800 km inbetween Chennai - Kanyakumari range.

After a few hectic days I went down for a quick visit to Tranquebar aka Tharangambadi in Tamil nadu India to visit a part of my country's history, an old Danish colony. 2017
I quit my job to follow a dream I've had since I was 10 years old. From now on I am gonna be travelling around the world full time.
I have started travelvlogging because I think it's a fun and exciting way to share memories with other people.
