Gerrards Cross is a town and civil parish in the South Bucks district of Buckinghamshire, England. It is in the south of the county, separated from the London Borough of Hillingdon at Harefield by Denham. London is centred 19 miles east. Geographically large and suburban, Gerrards Cross is south of Chalfont St Peter and north of Fulmer and Hedgerley. It spans foothills of the Chiltern Hills and land on the right bank of the River Misbourne — it has a central public park, Gerrards Cross Common and Bulstrode Park Camp, a preserved area of land which was an Iron Age fortified encampment.
The town has a railway station on the Chiltern main line whose operator provides a fast service from the station to London and the M40 motorway is beside woodland on the southern boundary of the civil parish and the settlement has a commercial and leisure central area which is smaller than the nearby town of Beaconsfield.
The town name is new compared with the great bulk of English towns. Gerrards Cross did not exist in any formal sense until 1859 when it was formed by taking pieces out of the five parishes of Chalfont St Peter, Fulmer, Iver, Langley Marish and Upton to form a new ecclesiastical parish. It is named after the Gerrard family who in the early 17th century owned a manor here. At that time homes which were not farms were smallholdings clustered in a hamlet in the south of an elongated parish of Chalfont St Peter. Near its centre is site of an Iron Age minor hillfort, Bulstrode Park Camp, which is a scheduled ancient monument Originally named Jarrett's Cross before the times of the Gerrard family, after a highwayman.
The large and distinctive parish church is dedicated to St. James. It was built in 1861 as a memorial to Colonel George Alexander Reid[citation needed] who was MP for Windsor and designed by Sir William Tite in yellow brick with a Byzantine style dome, Chinese looking turrets and an Italianate Campanile. In 1969 the singer Lulu married Maurice Gibb of the Bee Gees in the church. The actress Margaret Rutherford is buried with her husband Stringer Davis in the St James Church graveyard. The town has its own library, various restaurants and its own cinema, the Everyman Gerrards Cross.
Independent schools include Maltman's Green School (all girls), St Mary's, Gayhurst and Thorpe House. Students of secondary school age attend either one of the local grammar schools, such as Dr Challoner's Grammar School (Boys), Dr Challoner's High School (Girls), The Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe (Boys), John Hampden Grammar School (Boys), and Beaconsfield High School (Girls) Chesham Grammar School (Co-ed), or the local Upper School, Chalfonts Community College, which is the catchment school.
On the south side of the town is the Gerrards Cross Memorial Building, on the site of the former vicarage. The building was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and unveiled in 1922 to commemorate the town's losses during the First World War. It is the only example of a Lutyens war memorial designed with a functional purpose.
Just outside Gerrards Cross, on the A40 to Beaconsfield, is Wapseys Wood landfill site, one of the largest landfill sites in the UK, operated by Veolia Landfill Ltd. It accepts up to 900,000 tonnes of non hazardous waste each year from south Buckinghamshire, London and other areas. The landfill gas produced from the waste yields over 10 megawatts of electricity which is fed into the power grid.

The Museum includes a unique and rare collection of exhibits, It is possible to see photographs of the officers and men of the Auxiliary Units, information of their weaponry and original examples of the time pencils, fuses and crimping mechanism of the explosives with which they were familiar.

Visitors are able to tour this exhibit, it has been brought up to ground level for ease of access and landscaped over, you can appreciate the cramped and dismal conditions that the Auxiliers had to work in.
Back to my Roots - High Wycombe to Beaconsfield - Episode 100 (4K)
For the 100th episode of my Walking Vlog series I returned to the town of my birth to revisit the final walk of the Remapping High Wycombe project that I did with my sister between 2004-05. This takes us through the Desborough Hundred. This was when I started this YouTube channel and when I started using video to regularly document my walks.
The route takes us from High Wycombe town centre up through the Museum grounds and above the cemetery then out to Hughenden Manor. From here we climb to the Disraeli Monument then pass through Downley to Desborough Castle. I rest on Tom Burt's Hill before crossing the Wycombe Rye and follow the River Wye to Loudwater. From here we walk past Cut Throat Wood and along the Chiltern Way to Beaconsfield.

We love filming weddings in Leeds, and this was our second time we were able to make a wedding video at Woodlands Hotel in Leeds. If you are looking for a beautiful wedding venue in Leeds, Woodlands offers a superior elegant atmosphere which makes the perfect venue for a stylish and romantic wedding day.
Weddings at Woodlands are a very special occasion designed especially for you. They have a strict policy of only hosting one wedding at a time and are also licensed for Civil Ceremonies if you prefer not to have a church wedding in Leeds.
Lisa & Mark were such a relaxed couple to film for. I met Lisa 18 months before her wedding when she saw us at a Wedding Fayre in Leeds. She mentioned she wanted to get into the wedding industry in Yorkshire so I said why not help us out at a next wedding fayre. So Lisa ended up on the Mulhern Media stand at The Mansion Wedding Fayre and she did a great job, so massive thanks on that one Lisa.
The bride and her bridesmaids got ready in the suite above where the wedding took place, there was lots of room for me, my colleague and the photographer who was the lovely Lucille from Lucille Loves Photography. We had a great day and shared some nice photography and video ideas.
When shooting weddings I always find it great working with new photographers as it is great to see so many different styles and how other creatives work on the wedding day.
As wedding videographers, we edited the footage of Lisa & Mark’s day to provide them with a modern wedding highlights trailer.
Through our modern wedding editing style, we told the story of their day. We combined scenic shots, detail footage, and emotional moments to create a personal wedding highlights. And, with a soundtrack accompanied by the narrative of the day, we hope we captured the heart of Lisa & Mark’s day.
Thank you to the amazing bride and groom for choosing us as their wedding videographers to film your perfect day. Lisa & Mark – all the best for the future.
Lisa & Mark’s Leeds wedding film was produced by Ryan Mulhern: Leeds wedding cinematographer at Mulhern Media. Are you getting married, and interested in having a cinematic wedding video to capture your day?
Please get in touch – we’d love to have a chat:
