Thing to do in ZIHUANTANEJO Mexico | Alternative Travel Guide 2018
Guerrero Mexico has always been on my list of places to go and things to see. The state is beautiful, and doesn't get too many visitors besides Acapulco. We spent a weekend exploring this area, and here is our list of top things to do in Zihuantanejo.
The Fish Market
Every morning at 7:30am down by the basketball court on Paseo del Pescador street, the fishermen lay our their catch for local restaurant owners to purchase for the day. It's a pretty busy spot that early in the morning, and makes for a great way to grab some good photos and start your day.
The Christ Statue
Playa las Gatas is one of the most famous beaches in Zihuatanejo. Here, you come relax and take in the setting sun over the Pacific, and enjoy a drink at any of the beach bars that line the coast. Just off the break water there is a hidden underwater statue of Jesus, with arms outstretched just a few meters below the surface. You can rent snorkels, masks, and fins. Swim out to the buoy attached to his arm and get a view of this interesting attraction
Pozoleria Santa Prisca
Every Thursday this restaurant opens to serve this extremely traditional soup to whoever is brave enough to wait in line. Even if you've tried it before... you have to try it here. This is some of the best Pozole I've had in Mexico. Chili, corn, chicken, it's delicious. You can make reservations to beat the line. We recommend doing it.
El Partenon de Negro Durazo
This abandoned party house was owned by a corrupt police chief who used tax dollars to build it. He picked a beautiful location overlooking Playa la Ropa, contructed a greek style mansion, called it El Partenon, and then went to jail a few years later. It is now in incredible shape after been abandoned for several decades, and worth checking out (by appointment). It really is a special and unique attraction
Mezcalerias
One of my absolute favourite drinks world wide is Mezcal. With thousands of varieties, a very interesting history, and lots of establishments devoted solely to it... You have to spend some time in one of the many mezcalerias in Zihuatanejo, Mexico.
Hope you enjoyed this video of the alternative things to do in Zihuatanejo

5 Affordable Mexico Beach Towns To Visit This Winter - Insurance Navy Auto Insurance
Mexico has plenty of beautiful beach towns and the best part is that many are affordable for American tourists. Visitors can enjoy sandy beaches, good food and fun activities without spending a fortune. Here are five of the most affordable Mexican beach towns to visit this winter and things to do while you are there.
Playa Del Carmen
Playa Del Carmen is located in the Yucatan Peninsula. Playa Del Carmen does not have an airport so travelers can fly to Cancun and travel the rest by car or fly to Cozumel and take a ferry. Both options are about 40 to 45 minutes. Playa Del Carmen is pedestrian friendly and people can get around easily.
Tourists can spend their day on the beach, shopping on La Quinta Avenida, snorkeling and scuba diving or taking a day trip to visit the nearby Xcaret, Chicken Itza and other popular destinations.
Troncones
Troncones is a quiet fishing village located on the coast of Guerrero, about 25 minutes from the popular Ixtapa. Troncones is home to about 500 people and clean beaches. Troncones is popular among surfers and offers activities like horseback riding on the beach and ecotours. From November to April, the temperatures range from 85 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
La Paz
La Paz is capital of Baja California Sur. It is known for its beaches, parks and restaurants and bars overlooking the beach. Visitors can swim with sea lions in the famous Sea of Cortez, take a walk down the malecón and enjoy delicious sea food at the marina. La Paz also has several museums including the Centro Cultural de La Paz and Museo Regional de Antropologia e Historia for tourists who would like to take in the cultural places La Paz has to offer.
Loreto
Loreto is another popular and affordable destination in the Baja California Peninsula. Loretto also has set cab fares and boat activities so trusting tourists are not overcharged. Whale watching is a popular activity that begins in January. Blue whales, hump whales and sometimes orcas are spotted in Loreto Bay.
For water dwellers, paddle boarding, sea kayaking, fishing and snorkeling activities are also available. Hiking and mountain biking tours are also available in the nearby Danzante and Del Carmen Islands.
Todos Santos
Todos Santos is a quiet beach town also in the Baja California Peninsula. This beach is known as one of Mexico’s best surfing spots but is not the best for swimming. Sierra de la Laguna is great for hiking and mountain biking. Tourists can fly into San Jose Del Cabo and either rent a car or take a taxi for the hour drive.
If you are planning on driving or renting a car while on vacation, be sure to purchase an affordable Mexico Travel Insurance policy. When you cross into Mexico, your auto insurance coverage from the U.S. will not protect you from any financial damages that may result from a car accident. Mexico travel insurance is priced by the day and may be purchased for up to 60 days.
Our agents and customer service representatives are here to help. Call us today at 1-888-949-6289 or visit your nearest Insurance Navy Auto Insurance location. For your convenience, Insurance Navy is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. CST, 7 days a week.

Troncones || 2018
To celebrate Liz Tan's birthday, several family friends rented out a villa in Troncones, Mexico. You wouldn't know it was winter but we celebrated New Years, sunbaked, swam in the ocean and the villa's private pool, fished, surfed, and ate a lot of delicious food.
