It is 12 kilometres southwest of Tula, Russia, and 200 kilometres from Moscow.Tolstoy was born in the house, where he wrote both War and Peace and Anna Karenina. He is buried nearby. This phenomenon originated in the USSR and was greatly developed in Soviet times. The world's first children's railway was opened in Gorky Park, Moscow, in 1932.
