Traunsee is a lake in the Salzkammergut, Austria, located at 47°52′N 13°48′E. Its surface is approximately 24.5 km² and its maximum depth is 191 metres. It is a popular tourist destination, and its attractions include Schloss Ort, a medieval castle. At the North end of the lake is Gmunden, at the south end is Ebensee. The lake is surrounded by mountains, including the Traunstein, and a number of other towns and villages surround the lake, including Altmünster and Traunkirchen.

The Mauthausen main camp operated from the time of the Anschluss, when Austria was annexed into the German Third Reich in 8 August 1938, to 5 May 1945, at the end of the Second World War. AB BAARS writing impressions about the recent bcmf
Back home from an inspiring visit to Slovenia. Played a wild solo concert and a real nice duo with drummer Zlatko Kaucic (last time we played was in 1982 in Amsterdam where he was living at that time) Also worked for two days with a fantastic workshop orchestra of 15 young musicians. Great instrumentation; three double basses, three drums, four saxes, flute, guitar, electronics, voice and piano. We worked on many aspects of improvisation, colors, instrumentation, discipline versus chaos, counterpoint and compositions (by heart) by Misha Mengelberg 'Kraaloog' and Ig Henneman 'Autumn in Maine' etc, etc...We closed the last night of the festival with a wonderful performance; wild, chaotic, soft, loud, whispering, extreme, lots of good ideas and great playing by everybody. Audience and musicians were excited. And all this was made possible with very little money, volunteers, music lovers, Zlatko Kaucic, Borut, Tatjana and Sara Basin and people of the tiny little village of Smartno. Thanks a million.
