Victoria Falls Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Victoria Falls.
Located in the south of the African continent and located on the Zambia/Zimbabwe border, the Victoria Falls are one of the world's most amazing and impressive wonders of nature.Between February and March when the Zambesi is at its strongest, an average of more than five hundred million litres of water shoot over edge of the waterfall every minute. Indeed, the dimensions of the Victoria Falls beats all records: at an average height of ninety seven metres, the Victoria Falls are around one and a half times as long and also twice as high as the world famous Niagara Falls in North America.Dense tropical rain forests now cover the former basins of earlier waterfalls and have thus created vegetation that would not normally thrive in the surrounding area. According British explorer, David Livingstone, the waterfalls were such an incredible sightthat even passing angels would have been awestruck and amazed by their outstanding beauty. Even a century and a half after they were first discovered the majestic Victoria Falls are still one of the greatest natural spectacles in the world.

Victoria Falls is a waterfall in southern Africa on the Zambezi River at the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe.
It has been described by CNN as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the world.
The two national parks at the falls are relatively small – Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park is 66 square kilometres and Victoria Falls National Park is 23 square kilometres.
However, next to the latter on the southern bank is the Zambezi National Park, extending 40 kilometres west along the river.
Animals can move between the two Zimbabwean parks and can also reach Matetsi Safari Area, Kazuma Pan National Park and Hwange National Park to the south.
On the Zambian side, fences and the outskirts of Livingstone tend to confine most animals to the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park.
In addition fences put up by lodges in response to crime restrict animal movement.
In 2004 a separate group of police called the Tourism Police was started.
They are commonly seen around the main tourist areas, and can be identified by their uniforms with yellow reflective bibs.
Mopane woodland savannah predominates in the area, with smaller areas of miombo and Rhodesian teak woodland and scrubland savannah.
Riverine forest with palm trees lines the banks and islands above the falls.
The most notable aspect of the area's vegetation though is the rainforest nurtured by the spray from the falls, containing plants rare for the area such as pod mahogany, ebony, ivory palm, wild date palm and a number of creepers and lianas.
Vegetation has suffered in recent droughts, and so have the animals that depend on it, particularly antelope.
The national parks contain abundant wildlife including sizable populations of elephant, buffalo, giraffe, Grant's zebra, and a variety of antelope.
Katanga lions, African leopards and South African cheetahs are only occasionally seen.
Vervet monkeys and baboons are common.
The river above the falls contains large populations of hippopotamus and crocodile.
African bush elephants cross the river in the dry season at particular crossing points.
Klipspringers, honey badgers, lizards and clawless otters can be glimpsed in the gorges, but they are mainly known for 35 species of raptors.
The Taita falcon, black eagle, peregrine falcon and augur buzzard breed there.
Above the falls, herons, fish eagles and numerous kinds of waterfowl are common.
The river is home to 39 species of fish below the falls and 89 species above it.

Mosi-oa-Tunya, also known as Victoria Falls, is a stunning waterfall that’s located on the Zambia/Zimbabwe border. It is one of the largest waterfalls in the world with over 500 million liters of water.
2. Take a Walking Safari
South Luangwa is the birthplace of the walking tours and the one place where you’ll be most likely to come in contact with a lion. When the tour is finished, grab and tent and enjoy some restful and peaceful sleep in the middle of the wilderness.
3. Visit a Traditional Village
Zambia has over 73 tribes. And, a tour of the Kawaza Village near South Luangwa includes helping the villagers to harvest crops and draw water from their wells before enjoying a traditional feast. ,
4. Volunteer at the Lion Conservation
This center is home to a number of lions that have been orphaned, abandoned, or abused. The sanctuary allows visitors to take care of them, prepare their meals, feed them, clean their enclosures, and assist them with veterinary care.
5. Go on a Game Drive
Along the Luangwa River, jeep tours will get you up close and personal to some of Zambia’s dazzling wildlife. On these game drives, the vehicles make it easier to get closer to a higher density of animals.
6. Visit Chobe National Park
It's along the border of Zambia. Guided tours are available via vehicle. Open-air trucks will take you to the park’s river where you can witness elephants swimming, playing, and bathing together, or you can book a boat ride through the park.

9. Swim in Devil’s Pool
During the dry season, the levels of the Zambezi River drop low enough for you to walk to the lip of the falls. Fearless travelers get pushed to the edge by the force of the river, but the rock lip prevents them from going over the edge.

Zambia is making a name for itself as a must do safari destination. It's marketing itself as the real Africa and if you visit any of the South African reserves before you go to Zambia you will agree with them! There are no traffic jams around the Lions here! The future for Zambia also looks a lot brighter than many of its neighbours, its new government under President Sata seems to be behind conservation. It recently declined granting a uranium mining licence in Lower Zambezi National Park because of the environmental damage it would cause
Organised safaris are the way to go in Zambia. Self driving is an option but is only for the fully self sufficient. Zambia is home to some of Africa's greatest national parks. Lower Zambezi, South Luangwa and the frankly huge (the worlds second biggest NP) Kafue are the main ones, but North Luangwa and the virtually inaccessible Luiwa Plains are worth a mention. Although sometimes you might find the borders of them hard to define, there are no fences in Zambia, it really is the Africa of your imagination.
Safaris are through various operators, many being very expensive, but good value options are available and it's best to use a local established operator such as The River Safari Company.

Zimbabwe is a country in Southern Africa. It is landlocked and is surrounded by South Africa to the south, Botswana to the Southwest, Zambia to the Northwest, and Mozambique to the east and north.
The Zambezi river forms the natural boundary with Zambia and when in full flood (February-April) the massive Victoria Falls on the river forms the world's largest curtain of falling water. The Victoria Falls are a major tourist attraction.
Once known as the Breadbasket of Africa, since 2000, Zimbabwe has undergone an economic collapse and the rule of law has gradually but largely broken down, although there have been a few signs of improvement since the theoretical formation of a unity Government in 2009 and the Zimbabwean economy has been on the rebound. GDP grew by more than 5% in the year 2010 and 2011, from a very low base. Growth is forecast to increase, buoyed by high mineral prices and the improving agriculture sector.
