Cavtat Croatia - Old Town and Beaches
Cavtat is a charming little town located less than 20 km south of Dubrovnik. The Cavtat area is most attractive because of the Mediterranean vegetation which covers the whole area. With its rich and interesting historical heritage, beautiful scenery and a wide range of tourist services, Cavtat is definitely among the most desirable tourist destinations of the region.
Originally it was a Greek settlement called Epidauros. Around 228 BC it was under the Romans and later became a Roman colony. Cavtat became part of the Republic of Ragusa in the 15th century.
The attractions of Cavtat is the Rector's Palace, the Baroque church of St. Nikola, the Franciscan monastery, Bogišić's scientific collection, the Vlaho Bukovac Art Gallery, the Račić Mausoleum, archaeological sites, city walls, the Šipun cave etc.
Numerous beautiful beaches are the main reason that Cavtat is a desirable summer destination for most visitors. Crystal clear and unpolluted sea depths offer perfect refreshment in the hot summer days.
Cavtat also offers a 7 km promenade by pine forests paths only a few meters from the sea.
Numerous bars and restaurants line the waterfront, offering everything from cheap pizza and simple pasta to more expensive local specialties and succulent fresh fish.
Cavtat is very well connected with major Croatian cities through Dubrovnik and Cilipi Airport, while local communications with the surroundings include ship and bus lines.
Although Cavtat is a small town, but it has a lot to offer....

KORCULA, CROATIA - travel shorts
Rich in vineyards, olive groves and small villages, and harbouring a glorious old town, the island of Korčula is the sixth-largest Adriatic island, stretching nearly 47km in length. The dense woods led the original Greek settlers to call the island Korkyra Melaina (Black Korčula). Quiet coves and small sandy beaches dot the steep southern coast while the northern shore is flatter and more pebbly.
Tradition is alive and kicking on Korčula, with age-old religious ceremonies, folk music and dances still being performed to an ever-growing influx of tourists. Oenophiles will adore sampling its wine. Arguably the best of all Croatian whites is produced from pošip grapes, which are only grown here and to a lesser extent on the Pelješac Peninsula. The grk grape, cultivated around Lumbarda, also produces quality dry white wine.

On summer of 2016 my girlfriend and I set out to finally visit the peninsula Pelješac. It is near Dubrovnik and if you are going to Dubrovnik by car definitely check Pelješac on your way down there.
While on Pelješac, we were accommodated in a nice little apartment in Orebić which is really close to Viganj, one of the best windsurfing/kitesurfing spots in Croatia. The opening is shot on Viganje, see if you can spot some windsurfers.
One thing that is also visible in the video is the island Korčula and the town Korčula as well. This must be one of the most beautiful croatian coastal towns, even more intriguing than Dubrovnik for me. Add this to your bucket list while traveling to Croatia and you won't regret it.
