EXPLORE MEXICO: The Fire Volcano in Colima
There is more to see in Mexico than just sand beaches. Why not go check out an active volcano. You can see one on your next exploration vacation when you head over to the southwest corner of Mexico to explore the state of Colima. There you can view the Fire Volcano.
Just about everyday (usually several times each day) you can actually witness this almost 13,000 foot volcano spewing out billowing clouds of smoke. Bring your zoom lens and tripod. You can get some awesome photos!
My travel planner team and I can custom design a tour to include seeing this spectacular site.

Mexico Vacation Spots enjoy Mexico Vacation Spots
Mexico vacation spots are very popular with tourists. Having a history that dates back to about 8000 years and a culture that is contagiously vibrant and colorful, Mexico has something to offer to everyone. Tourist attractions in Mexico range from tours to ancient Mayan and Aztec city sites to colonial cities like Guanajuato, from beautiful lush green rain forests to volcanoes, from rocky canyons to gorgeous white sandy beaches, from a countryside that hasn't changed much since last era to all-inclusive resorts that have all the luxuries and amenities of 21st century.
There is so much to see in Mexico that one can easily get confused, what to see and what not? This list would help you to choose as we have compiled a list of top 10 tourist destinations in Mexico.
Riviera Maya -- It is a popular tourist district and is located on the east of Yucatan peninsula. Historically, this district started at Playa del Carmen and ended at Tulum. Originally Riviera Maya was known as the Cancun -- Tulum corridor but was given this new name in 1999.
All-inclusive resorts offering great deals, luxuries and sports facilities to customers are the most popular attraction in Riviera Maya. Sometimes, these Resorts even get your Itineraries ready for you and arrange local tours and excursions also. Coastal and reef aquatic activities are another major attraction in Riviera Maya. Riviera Maya is home to the second longest barrier reef system in the world -- Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System (also known as the Belize Barrier Reef) continues along the whole length of the Riviera Maya. Riviera Maya is also famous for its Archeological sites such as Tulum, Chichen Itza and Coba. Other activities available here include Jet Skiing, snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming with dolphins, horse riding, sailing, and guided jungle tours
Cancun --It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Mexico. Cancun is mainly known for its gorgeous white sandy beaches and water activities. It has the best resorts and hotels situated in most picturesque locations.
Cozumel -- This is one of the Mexico vacation spots that is a popular stop for cruise ships. It is known for one of the top dive sites in the world, which is situated at a beautiful coral reef. It is home to Corona and Chankanaab Lagoon beaches which are rated amongst the best beaches in the world.
Playa Del Carmen -- It has ancient Mayan ruins that date back to 13th century. It is famous for beautiful lush forests and a long stretch of white beaches.
Templo Mayor -- Again one of the most popular Mexico vacation spots. It is an ancient Aztec temple. History states that this temple was built to mark center of the earth. Museo Del Templo Mayor Museum is situated in Templo Mayor and displays artifacts from the original site and provides lots of information about ancient Aztec civilization
Acapulco -- It is a popular holiday destination and is famous for La Perla cliff divers. Acapulco is home to the historical district of Plaza Alvarez, and the 18th century fortress of El Fuerte de San Diego.
Punta Mita -- It is a beautiful beach front village that extends to around 1500 acres. It is located in Nayarit, which is a Mexican state known for pre historic human settlement. You can see Careyeros Hill in the Punta de Mita peninsula. Careyeros Hill is a hilltop archaeological site dating back to circa 800 AD.
Three of the sides of Punta Mita are covered by beautiful Pacific Ocean beaches and coves. You can find five star resorts such as Four Seasons and St Regis in this small town. Mexican national park of Marietta Islands is just 15 minute boat ride from Punta Mita.
Even more mexico vaction spots:
Loreto Bay -- It was also known as Concho bay and it was the first Spanish settlement on the Baja California Peninsula. It was capital of Las Californias from 1697 to 1777. Tourists enjoy fishing here and the local restaurants offer to cook tourists 'catch of the day. Loreto bay has many beautiful beaches such as Nopolo, Juncalito, and Agua verde to name a few. It offers world class snorkeling and scuba diving facilities with an added feature of warm water which means you are not required to wear wet suits and is great fun. Loreto bay also offers great camping, sailing and kayaking facilities, which makes these mexico vacation spots very popular amongst water sports loving tourists.
Tulum -- It is the site of a Pre-Columbian Maya walled city serving as a major port for Coba. Tulum was one of the last cities inhabited and built by the Mayans. It was a great and popular city between the 13th and 15th centuries but managed to survive for only about 70 years after Spanish invasion. It is one of the best-preserved coastal Maya sites.
This list covers the top Mexico vacation spots, but Mexico has lots more to offer and with a little travel advice you can see and enjoy the most beautiful locations in the world
Visit Puerto Vallarta & Mexico's Riviera Narayit
Visit Puerto Vallarta - Mexico's Riviera Narayit. I love Puerto Vallerta, from the hills that surround Banderas Bay with cobble stone streets where Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton partied, to the vibrant town with unique shops.
The beaches and fiery sunsets, resorts and hotels and all the way into the Sierra Madre mountains with lush jungles and old mining towns.
This is Mexico.
