Ville Platte is a city in, and the parish seat of, Evangeline Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 7,430 at the 2010 census, down from 8,145 in 2000. The city's name is of French origin, roughly translating to flat city, in reference to its relatively flat topography in contrast to the more hilly terrain north of the area.

Chicot State Park is located near Ville Platte, Louisiana. This wildlife reserve of South Central Louisiana features 6,400 acres of rolling hills surrounding a 2,000-acre man-made lake stocked with bass, crappie , bluegill, and red-ear sunfish. Chicot Park offers fishing boat rentals, pavilions, barbecue pits, picnic areas, restrooms, primitive hike-to campsites, lodges, and furnished cabins. The park is home to a number of wild animal species, including whitetail deer, raccoons, coyotes, and bobcats.

Family Hiking - Hiking with Kids - Chicot State Park - Things To Do in Louisiana [Ville Platte, LA] - Our family went on a family camping trip to Chicot State Park in Ville Platte, Louisiana for the first time. We woke up in the tent and made breakfast before going to the Arboretum in Chicot State Park for the Junior Ranger Program where the kids got to touch snakes and got on the hiking trails at this great Louisiana State Park.

The Junior Ranger Program at Chicot State Park in Louisiana is divided into 3 parts. First you have a classroom orientation. Second a short hike on a small hiking trail. Third a longer hike on the big hiking trails and an activity book.

Scary Texas Winds - Free Camping w/WATER near Waco & Kids Treasure Hunt

This is kind of a random vlog of several different things as we stayed near Waco and Dallas! We had a scary night of strong winds and had to pull in our slides and let the kids sleep in bed with us. Plus I shared a perfect place for us to be Boondocking between Waco and Dallas. It was at Steele Creek Park on Lake Whitney. We had to power but the campground does have water spigots which you can use if your hose is long enough. Then we had a fund outside day with the kids and let them have a treasure hunt.

Join us on our hike through Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs.

Getting outdoors and hiking with kids is a fun and exciting way to learn. Cale age 10 months obviously enjoyed our hike- look at his smile. Cash age 5 loved climbing the rocks and Eli and Haley the teenagers enjoyed it as well.

Garden of the Gods is fun for the whole family.
