The Oldest Bar in America - White Horse Tavern, Newport RI
The White Horse Tavern is the oldest bar in the United States. No ifs, ands or butts.
The White Horse Tavern was built in the 1652 as a home, but then turned into a tavern in 1673. Since then its been a meeting house for the Rhode Island legislature, seen patriots and revolutionaries pass through its doors, and even sheltered a pirate hiding out from the Brits.
Today the White Horse Tavern features fine dining and an elegant setting, but the bar is still there (two of them, one downstairs and one upstairs). They are still serving up the drinks just like they did 300 plus years ago.
If you go here the drink to try is a Darn and Stormy, the unofficial drink of Newport and the area. This place is a must see if you're a bar aficionado!

How Airplanes Fly Those Giant Banner Ads — It's More Dangerous Than You Think
If you've ever spent time on a US beach during the summer, you've probably noticed a parade of airplanes towing giant banners advertising companies like Dunkin' Donuts or Geico. We spent a couple of days with the men and women who get these banners flying, and it's no easy task.
You might think the airplanes simply take off with the banners attached. Alas, that is incorrect. It takes a challenging and risky maneuver to attach the banner to the airplane before it flies. We spent a couple of days with Banner Tow USA, a company that operates out of the Westerly State Airport in Rhode Island to find out what goes into flying these giant billboards in the sky.

Old Ship Church. The oldest Church in America Continuously used for worship
One of the oldest continuously used churches in the United States is the Old Ship Church in Hingham, Mass. It gets that qualification as I am sure there are in fact OLDER Churches in the US However, most are not still being used or have been continuously used. Regardless of the limitation you might think they are putting on it, This Church, holds a special place in my heart - a great memory of my childhood, having fun playing in the pews as a boy I a huge building full of forts! Awesome, right!!!??
Hope you enjoy.
