Wengen is a mountain village in the Bernese Oberland of central Switzerland. Located in the canton of Bern at an elevation of 1,274 m above sea level, it is part of the Jungfrauregion and has approximately 1,300 year-round residents, which swells to 5,000 during summer and to 10,000 in the winter. Wengen hosts the classic Lauberhorn ski races of the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup in January.

    The Alps are the highest and most extensive mountain range system that lies entirely in Europe, stretching approximately 1,200 kilometres across eight Alpine countries : France, Switzerland, Italy, Monaco, Liechtenstein, Austria, Germany, and Slovenia.   • 4. Molitor Wengen
    Karl Molitor was a Swiss alpine skier who competed in the 1948 Winter Olympics. Born in Wengen, he married Antoinette Meyer . In 1948 he won a silver medal in the Alpine combined event and a bronze medal in the downhill competition. In the slalom contest he finished eighth. He went on the open a ski-shop in Wengen and to manufacture ski boots in the village.
